Same. I need a Windows machine for legacy .NET projects and the pro version just works. I think most problems stem from home versions of windows. Still prefer my Linux machine tho.

That code would never pass a human pull request review. It doesn't even pass AI code review with a simple "review this code" prompt: https://chatgpt.com/share/68829f14-c004-8001-ac20-4dc1796c76... "

I was curious about how it works. It seems to be a wrapper for esbuild that transpiles typescript then calls your local node (it doesn't bundle nodejs). From https://tsx.is/faq : "tsx: Uses esbuild for fast compil

This is why documenting is so crucial. Even on a software architecture level. A few months from now, I'd love to have written down decisions for my current project: - Why did I decided to use Kysely over Drizzle, Knex, Prisma, TypeORM

Firefox could improve here too. They have telemetry on by default. I get it, it's very useful to understand what and how features are used. But it's a fine line to walk for a browser playing market share catch-up.

I believe most projects use VSCode because it is hard to build a cross platform code editor with plugin system. And if you're going to copy, might as well be the most popular editor to reduce user friction.

Yeah, with due respect, calling a popular app developer a "software legend" is a disservice to the likes of Fabrice Bellard (FFmpeg, QEMU, QuickJS).

I work on a system for a client that averages 50 requests per second but handles 6k req/s during peaks and we have SLA of P99% <= 50ms. So I'd say per day is not very meaningful.

Sounds suspicious to me. At a quick glance, most benchmarks show only 50% to 60% single threaded improvement between M1 and M4. That wouldn't explain compilation times going from 6 minutes to 2 minutes.

You realize the author is compiling a Rust webserver for a static website right? They are already long past the point of "complicate things unnecessarily". A simple Dockerfile pales in comparison.

That is what they are doing. It's a 2 stage Dockerfile. First stage compiles the code. This is good for isolation and reproducibility. Second stage is a lightweight container to run the compiled binary. Why is the author being attacked

There are great salaries in all spectrums of technology. As for calling XCode a "nice developer experience", I can only attribute to stockholm syndrome, lack of experience with better tools or both.
