I can see that. We thought we'd keep it wiki-style at the beginning, possibly setting it up as a foundation. we think its more likely that legal clinics & others are more likely to trust it & use it that way. We would start as na

I'd love to hear other people's speculation as to what they're doing. I think that they're going to build a massive suite a cloud-based apps, potentially even offering things like your iTunes library wherever you are on the internet. And I

If its Google we're talking about even if the youtube portion of the company is losing money, does it matter? I think its pretty safe to assume that youtube will survive. I mean, I'd assume that the idea of a loss leader somewhat applies h

Agreed, but I'm not going to forget how bad it was even 2 years ago when wifi & graphics drivers made for a pretty rough experience. I agree, though, we've come a long way already but at the same time I would be happier if I knew for su

I'm not clear on this -- how can it be open source without allowing programmers access to the underlying OS? Also, I would be surprised if the OS doesn't allow for running any local apps but you may be right. Also, I guess some Linux folks

Its still going to use the Linux kernel, and that makes it Linux I think, though we're messing with semantics. Regardless, I agree with your view that the blowback is ridiculous. The more people that are using free software, the better for

My view is that Ubuntu has a long way to go in terms of brand recognition before non-tech folks will jump in. But I agree with your positive view of this news. I think more people would be likely to jump into a Linux-based os with the Goog

Is there a way to read this article without subscribing? It sounds fascinating and I would love to read it. I'd even pay to read the individual article, but that doesn't appear to be an option.

Agreed. I posted that hastily. I think your posts shed some light on the situation even further, in that usually when you don't need mens rea we're talking of minor or petty crimes.

Wow. Unduly lenient for disagreeing with $80,000 per track? As you can see from the above conversation, I'm fine with something like $10 and then perhaps a $100 administrative fee.
