Well said. As an example, their latest headline is complaining that the one of the Pre development wikis that was about tethering the Pre was forced to shut down. They are trashing the dev's for not getting involved in a big, ugly legal b

My point on why it was a poorly written story was that he implied it was some sort of "secret" which he was breaking. Sure, most people missed the google voice FAQ which talked about this, but don't call it something it was not. Even if i

Yeah its the only bad thing I see about HN; it seems like everything t/c says makes it to the front page for some reason. You click on the headline, read the sometimes inflammatory/trollish story, scroll down and see that the author and co

I just wanted to say that this price-gouging is most egregious in the legal world, where the textbooks are full of case-law that is legally required to be freely available. The prof's add their notes at the end of each case and then sell t

Why would this be inaccurate? If there were no copyright laws, anyone could print a popular textbook and hence the market would drive the price down to just above the cost of printing it. What's unlikely is that we'll eliminate copyright

Minor thing - it seems to have messed up the comment threading. Check it: http://www.flickr.com/photos/hitesh/3618708763/ edit: here it is with 4 comments. check out the whacked-out indentation of the comments -- the nesting is all off:

Leaving a comment on T/C is like spinning a roulette wheel. It can be really frustrating to have comments censored when they are not incendiary or trollish in any way. What's shocking is that many racist / homophobic / trollish comments a

I kinda like the HN system of only allowing downvotes if you maintain a comment karma above a certain level. That, or something like that, makes a lot of sense and it can't really be "gamed" by the comment trolls on techcrunch. Again, my b

Agree wholeheartedly. Techcrunch has its faults, but its the only site doing what it does. To nerds who are used to civilized, crowd-moderated discussions on slashdot/reddit/HN, sites like TC and mashable look like big troll kingdoms, but
