Not a bad advice although a bit painted with pessimism I must add. It is an unfortunate result of relative lack of regulation that there are a lot of fiascos / scams happening. That doesn't mean there aren't respectable compa

If you don’t run an ASIC, your hash rate is so minuscule that it won’t matter (in the case of BTC). Cost of an ASIC is around the same ballpark if not more.

I'd agree with the implication here, if it weren't for the fact that the company on #2 would be _legally compelled to spy on me or my countrymen at the whim of 3 letter agencies_. That rubs some people, such as I, the wrong way. I

Turkey's status is (or should be) always about who is at the helm. It is an interestingly "supreme leader" type of a culture, and with Erdogan you can see how that plays out. Heart breaking, in my opinion, as they had a reaso

You are either ridiculous or malicious. Individuals are not perfectly capable of this decision, especially since they are multiple steps removed from said decision (e.g. saas I use is using another service hosted on amazon); and in a lot of

People like being edgy in the end, I guess. They literally claim that "EU is an American protectorate". At this point, it is literally pointless to even have a dialogue, as they is far gone.

Safe trusting an US based company with data _at the very least_ requires that US doesn't have a law that allows them to spy on us. How does this not compute for Americans, I cannot even comprehend.

In all fairness, it isn't like we want people to come as tourists here to smoke weed or something so should be fine no? For anyone else wanting to know more about the Dutch policy on this: https://www.government.nl/topi

Ultimately it depends on how entrenched you were in your original culture. Personally I don’t regret it one bit. Built (and still building!) a life here; actively working for being “just another person in the society”. However I have almost

Recruiters. I really wish next one could be big tech but it seems ever the more elusive… I just want to be in a proper engineering culture for once instead of having to fight for the basics…

Can you elaborate on “you cannot be made to unlock anything”? Jail time, denying entry, a gun to your head are all potential ways I can think of. For manufacturer & government; it depends on which government. If we are talking of the US

Because at customs etc. you can be forced to unlock your phone for example. Or your government might force you to install root certs etc. (Hi Kazakhstan!) So there is an argument to be made for “should it be possible”. I am saying this even

Expectations play an interesting part for sure. To draw a parallel, this is why in the Netherlands at the moment e-bikes are scary as hell - because they are faster than the expected speed of a bike; it is harder to notice / react.

Important to also note, when something exists commonly on streets, it ends up being expected. When a bike is a random occasion, you don’t drive expecting one on every corner. Even if you hate it. This can create an interesting type of blind

In short - web is increasingly centralised, to the point it is not "personal websites etc." but "facebook / instagram / whatsapp".

Which is still not the standard - probably will take at least a decade before we can even talk about this issue being fixed.

Having a family is the best "life hack" ever. Finding meaning in life comes much much more easier when you have your family and loved ones surrounding you. If I had to do the same choice (i.e. early retirement vs having a family)

Check if your problem is about "eating behaviour" or if it is just a symptom of another issue in your life. In most cases, the reason you are overeating is rooted in something else. Not fixing that would not really give you a prop

This really depends on the projects / companies people are involved with as well. Especially on the front-end, it is very common to take a project from start to post-launch support in a year, especially in a "non-tech" compan
