I think people played around with flutter and what I keep hearing from people is that flutter's performance leaves much to be desired.

What do you think the browser paints on? On a more serious note, the open web was killed when people decided to use the browser as an application platform instead of as a document delivery platform. The open web was killed by many things: -

I'm in a similar boat. I hate Docker. I haven't used it myself but seen it used at various companies, and to me as a programmer, it's a nightmare. Docker "solves" the problem of Linux system configuration, but the s

I'd be really surprised if the majority of HN readers are anxious people with low self image who need external affirmation. I do think it applies to reddit (probably ~80% of them are like that), but for HN I don't think would appl

I'm not rich. I didn't grow up rich. It has nothing to do with growing up rich. I know people who are not rich, have held the same job for 10+ years, and think it's very important. This is my ideology: a bird does not feel sa

That's interesting. I never thought I was in a weird minority. I thought most people hate their jobs but do them anyway because they can't think of an alternative. Maybe that is true. Maybe the degree to which I hate being an empl

Yea eventually that is the only path. Although I think you overestimate what is required (financially) to start an independent business. If you are single and you have funds to last you 6 months, you are probably good to do.

Just because I don't like to work on your product does not mean I don't like working in a team. Although for people like you, I think "team player" means "a guy who does what I tell him to do".

I've never held a job for more than 2 years. I can come up with a reasonably convincing story for every individual Job about why I quit that one. But taken together, there's no reasonable story that would convince a hiring manag

That's exactly why you should remove sources of stress. If you are financially somewhat comfortable (I assume most people in tech are so, more or less), it's better to go independent. The first few months you will be so busy and s

Yea the biggest source of messiness is people not throwing out stuff they don't need. They think they "lose" something by throwing it out. In fact they are losing unimaginably by keeping garbage laying around.

It's very rare that a serious problem can be solved without some objects having some sort of a dynamic lifetime that you have to manage. Rust just prevents you from doing this. So you can say it provides safety, but it also restricts y

Children cost the most thing during the first year. Even a 1.5 years old gives you plenty of time to do stuff. You either wake up early or sleep late. Arrange with your spouse to take turns. Etc. At least 4 hours of free time.
