For those interested, Scheme is now Racket and there may be other changes brought on by time. The list is quite responsive with a very satisfactory STN ratio so use it as a resource as this looks like an interesting project. See: http://ra

I do a lot of work involving bibliographies that are used in LaTeX. The care and feeding of such things is a major PIA that this language/approach seems to be a very good fit for. At least good enough to give it a shot!

Would be interesting in a cold hearted intellectual sort of way to calculate just how much the difference would be from an honest pay-out to Skype's sharp business practice (Microsoft speak for screwing someone over...)

Oddly enough at a TechStart meeting on Friday I also heard that a Twitter account was pretty much mandatory. Guy who was the target of the advice tried to duck out with the 'I'm not a tech guy' but was bullied into it by the rest of the cro

I believe that there are currently more significant problems than those mentioned in the (very good) TED talk---how do we stop the continued trend of denigration of teaching and the profession in general? The current populist idea of blame

To paraphrase Tufte, bullets do not a presentation make. If it is worth writing about then write about it, do not summarize it into little pieces that may or may not reveal the 'point' in question. Beyond that---an interesting idea, form as

Very large pond, very large rock, big splash. Disruptive technology indeed. I'd guess that their funding problems (if any) are now over---particularly if they are smart enough to license this. Just as an example, imagine a joint-venture bet

One of the suggestions in the article is that other EU countries are beginning to climb on board. If that is the case then with any luck at all, the ridiculous 1870 limit due to instance copyright problems may erode and eventually disappear

I'm probably missing something, by the Times article doesn't mention the word 'warrant'---that being the case shouldn't that ruffle a feather or two?

Hell you can't do any of those things in the first 15 languages I learned. In fact none of the concepts even existed in those languages---so? Bother? Irratated? Annoyed? I can understand all of those; but hate? I'm hoping that is hyperbole

I apply a simple test—Who is Edgar Lee Masters?, Rupert Brooke? Tintoretto? Hardy? George Mallory? William Morris? I’ll even throw in one most geeks get even if they haven’t read—Edward Tufte. Not a long list, but good enough to give me a c

Given that governments are immune to the rule of law, why do they bother to lie about their actions? Waste of time and paper seems to me. They choose to distinguish between 'censor' and 'remove' claiming that one is not the other. I'm sure
