I hope that today's stars are bright enough to trademark/copyright (I've no idea which) their images and 'style' such that Hollywood will not be able to create digital versions and continue on their merry way without the bothersome nonsense

Actually given the image you want to sculpt the rest of the work is 'knocking away the parts that don't belong'. This often takes most of the time in the overall process. There is also the matter of mounting the piece. This can take from ze

For those who prefer radio, try WFMT out of Chicago---be warned, it is classical 24x7, but chosen and DJed by the best in the business. Easily available as iTunes->radio-> Classical->WFMT. As a change of pace, 5 hours of folk mu

If by 'here' you mean HN comments and text bodies, I'd support that 100%. While many would go over-board, I think that the communication quota would increase given better looking communication.

"Finely-woven textiles"---this tells me you know very little about the last 150 years of weaving technology. We no longer have such a thing and have not had since the 20th century. The last looms capable of doing that kind of work hit the s

Are we sure that this isn't the same guy who just attacked Amazon? His arguments are equally off point and equally worthless. And that is without taking into account that the arguments come from the side that is losing! I no more think that

Seems to me that programmers cause memory management failures, not languages. But I suppose that this is similar to arguments about guns killing people etc.

As I slip on my typographic curmudgeon's hat, I have to ask where are the printer's ornaments? Can you set a chess diagram with anything in Google web fonts? Don't think we've quite arrived yet...

How do all of you 60+ folk manage it? It has my age off by 20 years---got the sex right but not even close on the age. Wonder if there is a button I can push to as Kirk would say 'Make is so'?

Same thing (I think---it is not clear from the email I got) happened to the Anatomy class I signed up for. That at least had a date (March sometime; I forget) assigned to it. Sort of makes you wonder what is going on behind the curtains?

Not what I'd call 'New'---these have been around for a while and depending on you needs do quite well. I prefer XeTeX because as one of the answers said, 'fonts just work'.

I seem to remember that some time in the 80's or 90's, (could have been earlier) that the FEDs finally made the connection between injection wells on (I think) haz-mat sites and tremors in Denver. The comparison between that and Ohio's curr

Don't much care about links that are not broken---do care about links that ARE broken. Need some way to create a list of such and then down load the list. Like the interface and the look and feel---good work, keep going!

While the current version of Ubuntu is trashed by many, its usability is no longer an issue---as near as I can tell the argument is what it looks like with a few quibbles over changes to some standard utilities---the app installer used to a

I wonder if it would also make a difference if Google arranged to censor all of the supporting members of the House and Senate. It shouldn't take long for at least their aides to get the message in a particularly realistic way. For my .02 w

If I could wave my putative magic wand (hazel with ebony trim) I would hope for a small box of these in an arrangement that allowed a flat cable to attach to an existing x86 box. This way I could rehabilitate older (if not wiser) hardware t

What works for one may not work for others. There have been just as many (if not more) 'ah-ha' moments while interacting with others as in isolation. I've also noticed that creativity can create it's own isolation. World tends to go away wh
