If you look at the second to the last photo, you can see two things; it is a single barrel and the barrel in question is smaller in diameter than his thumb. I'd say that weighs heavily in favor of a 22 instead of shotgun...

Given the age survey posted a little while ago, most HN members have no particular reason to note this. But for me, one by one the pioneers that pulled me into the world of computers are dying--- I will miss them.

I remember all the way back to the 8080, the 8085 and the Z80--- all quite fondly in fact. Wrote a great deal of assembler code even with the problem of Z80 differences </nostalgia>

I am so GD tired of "--- is dead" as the title of what amounts to a rant (seemingly quite factual in this case) based on what someone dislikes about the subject. Cloud Computing is not dead. At worst the media has in their usual bandwagon r

It has been too many years since I spent careful time (on foot with backpack in the late 60's) in SF so I can only relate my experience in Berkeley. First an admission--- I am invariably biased in or out of favor of a city based on it's boo

Without attempting to read the obscured code, the reason for the middling high Elo lies in the algorithms implemented. One of the AI discoveries is the sad fact that chess does not need intelligence, just horse power and a good per move che

A non-relevant question, which one? St. Louis, Tulsa, Chicago, New York, etc... Since the shirt doesn't say, it won't make a difference from the sales point of view, just wondering which one was your inspiration?

One of the problems with software that changes how you work is that it changes how you work! There is a lot of resistance to such things--- the user has to see clearly that there is something to be gained with this modification. I like the

While I applaud such an improvement, I still despair over Google's inability to handle context. For instance the search phrase 'tex decorative rules' is totally miss managed. First it overrides the search and changes tex to text. Humorously

We still argue about color names today--- no longer about the basic 7 or 8, but over what to call the ones we can easily display on the screen. Even if we limit it to say 256, it is hard to find universal agreement on what to call them. If
