I've compared the Dell, macbooks and the ThinkPad and I think the keyboard on the ThinkPad is the hands down winner. Touchpad is a different story

I haven't seemed to have any problems like that with a gen 3 2015 ThinkPad carbon and manjaro. My experience has been basically flawless

Coworker recently got a xps 15". Paid a pretty penny for a 4k 16gb model. Few months later he had to get the Mainboard replaced because of charging issues. Dell have terrible QA issues, I wouldn't buy one.

I disagree completely. People who choose chrome because of a view UX enhancements, or choose Google because Gmail syncs better than iCal/idav, or decide to use Google search over duckduckgo because of blah, is the reason why Giant Corp

I agree. Apple doesn't believe in freedom unless it's curated and prescribed by them. You can see this philosophy in their hardware and software design. Which is now why I use Linux, and so should you.

Linux user here - Im glad electron exists, even if it is incredibly resource hungry and inefficient. Rarely software is targeted for Linux, which means there are less mainstream apps than windows or OSX, which means less people using Linux.

Yeah, you are right. Sublime uses about 30MB for me after testing

Vscode is great, but it's a pitty they are running it on electron. 1.3GB of RAM usage for a 8GB machine is not efficient at all. I switched to sublime3 because of this, sublime is great, really fast, only uses 300mb of RAM, unfortunate

Sorry Apple, but I won't buy another MacBook Pro again in the foreseeable future. I won't accept your dogma anymore. I encourage other developers to use Linux. Many Distros have come along way, personally, I think Manjaro is great

Personally I don't use a DSLR because they are large, but i do use a professional camera and I can say, hands down, that after you achieve a level of quality for the photo, the control you have over the camera is the most important thi

Is it hedonistic to be happy, to live a truly joyful life that you decided and not someone else? I'm rather questioning the value system we have. It's better to be true to yourself than to invest in a false value system. What defi

It's just a label describing a programmer who typically works on both front and backend. Not all developers want to or can work on both sides. Why was an essay written about this? seems pointless to me.

My personal perspective: There's a lot to be said about humanities value models of life. You aren't here to acquire wealth, build a career, or do anything that society may call normal and successful. Yet, most of us blindly chase

Can vouch for ThinkPad X1 carbon. I was in the same situation, MBP 2017 nTB and downgraded to a 2015 ThinkPad X1 with qwhd display. Cost me 330 euros from eBay. Pretty good computer for development, but it only has 8gb of RAM. Nevertheless

I share your worry about not being able to inspect communications for various apps and devices purely from a privacy advocacy perspective. If you own a device, and said device is transmitting data from your environment, you should be able t

Yes wire isn't perfect, but I think that if more people used it and more organisations paid for it, then it would become better over time.

The first problem with Telegram is that it's not full e2e. Only the private chat function is end to end encrypted, all group messaging is not. The second problem with Telegram is that it's not truly open source. Only the client is
