Thanks for the praise! Totally agree; it's not true NLP. Moreover, true NLP is currently not achievable. We would need an algorithm that passes the Turing test to infer the meaning of a free-form statement. Like my parent post said,

The autocomplete is provided by my parser-combinator library which is designed in a very generic way. It can be used for any application, not just natural language queries. About the parser generator: the ER description provides natural lan

Couple of years back, I implemented a natural-language-ish solution for querying ERP data. My approach was to a. have structured queries that can be precisely parsed b. provide query completion to guide the user while entering the query It

Indian govt websites have a pathetic sense of security. One prominent consumer facing website with logins and company data has a certificate issued to "Mohan Babu" (equivalent to John Doe) and expired 5 years back! I guess that&#x

I am led to believe that human marriage is much more than just animal mating . In a liberal society, such as the western countries, where mating before marriage is common, I don't think there is any confusion between the two. Your c

Genuine question: if we wrap an IC engine with a heat sink that captures the excess heat for re-use, what do we get? And is overall more or less efficient than using the sterling engine in article?

IDK if it's too late to discuss this, but a third possibility could have been to use the second character or more of a # comment as a marker for diffscuss. Something like: #%%% You get standard diffs and parsability.

Having recently worked with a project employing Java 8, I whole-heartedly agree. The FP in Java 8 is so crippled as to be useless. Every time you use a lambda, you need to worry about checked exceptions and wrapping and unwrapping them. Als

Without GSM, you only eliminate the excuse for a baseband backdoor. How do you eliminate their motivation for adding the backdoor? What if they put it it another chip connected to the bus?

Every system has its own set of drawbacks. A non-voluntary system has the drawback of forcefully extorting money from people with proven capability[1] and then handing it over to possibly incapable / lazy people. [1]: Assuming an uncor

Either I am not understanding something, or perhaps you are not clear about the system side of Android. AFAIK, ART doesn't "use" Dalvik. It is an ahead-of-time-compiling run-time for Dalvik. IOW, ART wouldn't exist wit

Android apps are meant to be platform independent. A pure Java Android app will run fine on both ARM (various flavours) and x86. I vaguely remember a MIPS implementation too. Without the intermediate step (bytecode), you are pushing the awk

I thought the article was trying to discredit the pop-nutritionists. To me, the point of all those quotes and anecdotes in the beginning of the article was to show the shallowness of their recommendations.
