The decisions are probably made by a C suite level who is responsible for specifically OneDrive. They could not care less if the rest of the company crashes and burns on their way out the door with their golden parachute.

You're woefully out of date at this point with your experience. The vast majority of the visible polish to make desktop Linux viable has been done in the last 4 years. I started using it full-time in 2020 and since then the progress ha

I've tried copilot and the code it generates is far worse than the free version ChatGPT. The idea that they want people to pay for it is frankly absurd.

I just switched to Wayland with KDE Plasma 6.1 from KDE 5.x on X11. VR works now. Screensharing and everything you expect with other operating systems works perfectly as well.

What really blows my mind about all this is how long are we expected to give our computing over to corporation? 100 years? 200? A thousand? In 500 years will people be running some personal OS cobbled together from a shared heritage or will

I just have the right config for both Apache2 and nginx from hundreds of sites. The config itself is only 50 lines. You can find a good one and stick with it.

PHP dev of 18 years here. Use nginx with php-fpm. It takes 5 minutes to configure. Edit: I'm gonna give this thing a try too but I've never had any bottlenecks with either nginx or Apache. They both take a few minutes to get going

Those stats are based on public information so if someone starts a private project you won't even know it. It makes sense that a mature ecosystem would have fewer open source new projects.

People hate php for no reason. They talk about performance or whatever while building rest crud apps. Literally any language can handle that easily and your bottleneck is usually the database. I've scaled startups on PHP to hundreds of

It's ironic. For the past 5 years I've been writing type strict PHP. People love to shit on PHP yet I found that when I started using strict types my code quality improved, amount of lines needed to produce a result decreased, and

It certainly is selection bias however if 20 years ago the native English speaking population was 0% now it's 20% (made up number). That's not nothing and will likely accelerate.

I was recently hanging out in VRChat and it hit me that the people I was talking to were speaking back to me using an almost American accent despite being native nordic Europeans. Culture is homogonizing at an incredible pace.
