Two different teachers did this at my school (two years in a row). The second year, nobody fell for it. I felt a little bad for that teacher.

Google does this for the same reason coca cola advertises during the super bowl. It's not because they're afraid of competitors. It's to reinforce their position in your mind as a household name.

They should get rid of RF and have the fob send a message through AWS instead. That way they'll have servers to maintain and they'll be able to justify the subscription cost.

I vaguely remember skipping over it because it included malware in the installer. But it looks like that was fixed a few years ago. Sources so people know I'm not crazy: https://freefilesync.org/forum/viewtopic.php

I've always used Beyond Compare to compare file trees (best $60 I ever spent!) Is there anything FreeFileSync does that Beyond Compare is missing?

strings.Cut is otherwise known in Rust as str::split_once. It's something I've always missed when writing Go. Nice to see it added to the stdlib

I like to imagine the AI spits out a line like this: > Should we ban this user? YES Then you request a review, and the support person double-checks that the output really does say "YES" and not "NO". Then they tell yo

My PC has a 5ghz wifi antenna, and I can install any OS I want. Why should a router be any more locked down than my PC? The FCC takes illegal broadcasting VERY seriously and I think that should deter people from becoming criminals.

Interesting thanks. So the protocol supports it, but the official app doesn't expose functionality shaped the way I want. I'll have to see if I can get that lite app running on PC somehow.

If you have a home router, do yourself a favor and install OpenWrt. You won't have to worry about the UI lying to you.

Does Syncthing support manual on-demand downloading? What I'd really like is a way to browse files and download only what I need without eagerly syncing everything all the time. I'm using Seafile for that now, but I don't lik

For tools like this, I'm a big fan of Shutup10's design: Nothing is changed by default. Settings are sorted by risk. It's one click to apply "recommended" settings. It's simple and beautiful. https://

Interesting. I wonder how fast you could theoretically read/write data stored in DNA. I could imagine it being used in place of tape storage, maybe, but it seems like it would be extremely fragile if you try to read through it at hard
