Turning off wi-fi isn't enough. Like many Samsung smart TVs, a Small Child will cycle through all access points in range if its configured network doesn't have internet connectivity.

I have an i9-12900K (same gen desktop chip) that is self-reporting ~15W idle. I would be pretty surprised if their mobile chip didn't scale lower than that.

Interesting. I bought the original model when it was new and I've been happy with it. I always just viewed it as something that was inherently risky, but worth it. The board does have a way of "communicating" with you when yo

>it's not sped up by putting more on the production line or more engineers on the design side Of course it is. If revenue fell by 90%, nvidia would spend much less on R&D and progress would be much slower. If revenue doubled, nv

This feature is built-in to all the JetBrains IDEs. Right-click your project, open Local History, and you can diff any file at any two points in time. That's saved my bacon more than once.

That's true, but that doesn't mean you should use it everywhere. Using Three.js to render a single quad is like using Rust+WASM to add two numbers.

I would expect the stability guarantee to cover outputting _something_ human-readable, and that's it. If you want to parse the output, I would scope that under a separate feature such as `-Z timings-json`. This is similar to error mess

I did it by hand. It's a mostly mechanical transformation, so in theory it could be automated, but I've never seen an automated refactor for any language that can e.g. take a giant file and decide how to split it up into 5 smaller

I've always wondered why useful flags like `-Z timings` are not available on stable. I guess they're worried about the output changing in a future stable release, but I don't think anyone would expect the reports to look exac

I once had a similar project to OP that took 30 seconds to compile a one-line change (albeit on a 10-year-old CPU). I split it into about 7 crates, and got compiles down to 3 seconds. Since then I'm always vigilant about keeping crates

Use any service you want, Syncthing, Dropbox, etc. Keepass is smart about saving. If the DB is modified in the background while it's open, it will merge your changes rather than overwrite.

You're right that Windows 10 is "generally okay" on an old CPU, even for relatively heavy dev work. But I just upgraded from i7-3770k to i9-12900k and it made me realize how much time I spent _waiting_ for every little thing.

I mean sure, in an ideal world one Java should work for everything. In practice, there are too many things that can go wrong with untested combinations. For better or worse, the world is moving towards bundled dependencies (Snap, Flatpak, D
