This looks cool. I started going through _Algorithms in C_[0] a while back and implementing things in Clojure to gain some experience. This book looks like it does something similar, but does it idiomatically from the get-go. [0] http:

Nice; sort of a programming complement to Shutterstock's _List of Dirty, Naughty, Obscene, and Otherwise Bad Words_[0]. So helpful to have a bunch of minds working on useful lists like this. Good to see that GitHub passes this test! [0

Great experiment here. Lambda has been intriguing me for a while. More and more, as I scope out work for clients, I'm finding bits that could probably be run as Lambda processes instead of requiring an entire EC2 instance. This is kind

Right, but for it to be successful, there's still a substantial amount of R&D to get the systems cooperating in a manner effective on the battlefield. I agree, however, that if this were to go forward with a military bankroll, the

The idea of a "trickle-down illusion" really struck a chord for me: > Software developers often buy into the idea of advancement by individual merit--either through a liberal lens in which meritocracy is an ideal we still need

This is awesome. I've been using Redis -- naively, with hashes -- as a lat/lon cache for some path analysis on my website. Didn't even know this was out there, and can't wait to switch over!

Loved this the last(?) time a discussion on Fourier visualizations was on the front page. These visualizations really help with breakthrough moments. I'm surprised nobody has yet linked to the video of Fourier series for drawing Homer

Does the SSD actually use this unformatted space? I know that SSDs from the factory have a lower available space than their nominal space, to account for the eventual dimishing quanitty of functional floating gate transistors (ie 240GB is m

This project just blew me away. In fact, a lot of the projects on woodgears opened my mind to how far you can go in a wood shop. Really inspiring!

Lovely. A nice addition would be a floating REPL to try things out as you go along, maybe at the bottom of the screen with a dash of transparency. (I know I know, there are plenty of other ways to access a Clojure REPL!)

This is seriously one reason I've been looking at career-switching to being a machinist. A new technology can come along, but it has to establish itself, and then you can take time and get really proficient at it. That, plus the more g

So cool! This is almost BitTorrent, but the dependency on the server for client coordination is still a weak point, and makes it more like Napster than BT. It would be an interesting project to try something similar with WebRTC, to allow

Clojure certainly seems one of the darling languages on HN (along with Haskell, Rust, Go). The thing that _I'm_ noticing all of a sudden is the uptick in articles on category theory -- which, similarly, I was only made aware of about 3
