Honestly, I'd scrap everything up to $29/mth and change the pricing basis from MB and number of queries (people who use spreadsheets have no real understanding of this) to number of spreadsheets. I remember working for Deutsche Ba

I worked 20-25hrs / weeks for about 2 years as a consultant but then, probably against my better judgement, joined a company in March doing the standard 37+hrs. I'm unhappy, unfocused and RescueTime tells me that my efficiency has

Wow! That's a huge leap forward. I can look seriously at RethinkDB again for a new project. Is there a public roadmap where I could have seen that coming?

I've looked into RethinkDB and I really like it but… you have to migrate your data between each 1.x -> 1.y release which might be trivial early on but impossible at a larger scale :-/ http://rethinkdb.com/stabil

Whilst most of the larger EU countries have some civil spying program, the UK operates on a much wider scale throughout the world. It is also particularly concerning for me in Ireland as a large portion of Irish internet traffic must flow t

I could easily see the EU strengthening our data protection laws in the next few years to take us in this direction. In light of the NSA scandals there's probably a strong justification for this… except that the UK is a bigger danger t

That's really neat. My daughter is hedgehog-obsessed and we were watching videos from hedgehog owners: their nocturnal running was a common surprise (and annoyance if they were in a bedroom!)

Dash is great and a big shout-out to the developer (@kapeli) who is really responsive to support requests. I found that the backbone docset was actually using the Edge version not the latest stable release. He had it fixed in a few hours.

What licence is the HN content made available under? I'm trying to find some T & C's that I might have agreed to but I haven't them yet. I don't think you can assume that comments made here are free to copy, reuse, m

Yes, yes, all these one-liner http server are great… but you're missing the point Knod allows you to POST JSON data to a URL which it stores in a file so you can GET the same data back. If you're prototyping a one page JS app in,

I was only introduced to Burp at Scot Ruby conf last week as a tool for web security testing. If Proxy.app is targeting the same domain, it seems to provide none of the tools that Burp does. Burp was a pain to setup (OS X makes installing a

This has always bothered me since my early twenties: my Dad was a programmer into his 50's (albeit, as a manager too) but he'd actually risen to those rank from an engineering apprentice so it's a bit different. For me, the

I can't have been the only one to view the $1000 (or whatever it was) in stock options as a blatant bribe. It was pretty clear that the 2015 roadmap was going to sacrifice staff (or bonuses, or conditions, etc) in order to meet its tar
