Quit my "prestigious" but hollow job of 10 years. Sold 90% of my possessions. Let go of my loft apartment. Dramatically cut back my lifestyle. I'm much freer (and happier) as a result. Thoreau calls it Economy. I like to say

Definitely like the user interface here. I normally do this kind of planning in Excel or Sheets, but it's hard to "visualize" the trip in tables. The timeline is great.

+1 for How To Read a Book by Mortimer Adler. I wish I had found this at a younger age.

I was similarly impacted by both books -- Four Hour Work Week led me to Vagabonding which is much better. If you haven't already, you should read the inspiration for Vagabonding: Walden by Thoreau.

Sorry that was unclear. 8 oz of meat, fish, poultry, etc (before cooking), not 8 oz of protein itself. It's recommended to not eat more than 200 grams of protein per day on any diet.

As a long-term ketogenic eater (10 years), here are my top simple tips. Unfortunately they were not gleaned using machine learning. 1. Watch your protein. Most people when first going keto will eat too much protein and not enough fat. Prote

Glycogen is necessary for high intensity exercise, but you are mistaken that carbs are necessary for glycogen. When you are keto-adapted and eat low carb, two things happen that most people overlook. First, you get enough "trace carbs&

This type of reading is described in Adler's practical book. It's called "syntopical reading" in which you read multiple books about the same topic in furtherance of some particular idea. In this style of reading, you&

Same. Another benefit of reading How To Read a Book is that it inspired me to read higher quality books such as the Great Books.

This is basically a modernized, summary version of Mortimer Adler's classic of the same name which changed my life. Beforehand, I was reading much too quickly, letting information, and more importantly understanding, pass through me.

Yes that accords with my layman understanding as well. The body will go down the "path of least resistance" for energy and glucose is easier to metabolize than ketones. Deprived of glucones, the body will switch over and hum alo

Thanks. I didn't understand either. I guess I am cynical on this topic because all my career I've dealt with people complaining about DD rather than reframing it into an opportunity to learn and limit downside.

Yes. The analogy works all around, even the debates that pilots have about the Cirrus versus a simple aircraft resembles those debates of developers.

I liken this to a student pilot learning to fly in brand new Cirrus. Very quickly he'll be flying advanced missions, but at the expense of fundamental stick and rudder skills.

You are really missing the point of due diligence... "Homeowners' insurance is a waste of money. 99% of the time your house doesn't burn down!" You don't buy insurance because you expect your house to burn down. Sim

Agreed. The brains of keto-adapted individuals can use ketones as a source of energy which are much more stable, although for a long time it was believed that brain relied on glucose.
