I always say: We ( Software developers ) are ALREADY working as high a level as possible, and invest aggressively when we can see we can cut out work that does not add business value. Compare local data centers, to AWS, to Kubernetes. The r

I always find the anti-environmentalist position that pops up on HN interesting. For a technical audience, they are amazingly unaware of "Systems Thinking". Saying "MEH, there are other pollinators" is lazy thinking. Our

GPU Benchmark puts the 1660 Super at +35% benchmark speeds, and the 5500xt at 12%. I don't really see the point in upgrading for that level of improvement when I can spend a bit more and get a much more significant upgrade.

What I am really hoping for out of the next-gen AMD offering is value. GPUs are so insanely expensive anymore, it is so frustrating to want to upgrade my 6 year old 970 GTX and be unable to do a meaningful upgrade without spending over $400

I cannot improve on this answer, totally nailed it. I would like to emphasize the fact that I can get a windows machine and run WSL on it, and not get a bunch of eye-rolls from my IT director. Additionally: Linux laptops are pretty OK, but

I've been using WSL2 for the last few months. I never thought I would see the day I prefer Windows to OSX AND Linux for a development environment, but that day has come. I am ASTOUNDED by how well WSL2 works, especially when integrated

Nice extension. For the love of GOD do not hijack my "new tab" page and focus on the page instead of the URL bar. That is SUPER ANNOYING. There should be a button to disable this behaviour very clearly on the page.

I've used a KinesisGaming for years, bought out of desperation due to severe wrist and finger pain. Has done wonders. Being able to remap keys with the heardware is awesome. Mine recently broke due to a move, so I reached out. They off

Just to get my take out in the open: I do not have kids yet. People are going to have kids and I like kids. Raging against that is like whipping the ocean. Of course we should support families as much as we can as a society, they are our fu

Introverts vs extroverts. Humans are social animals. Socialization is a basic human need. It is much harder for some people to stay inside and not socialize than others. We are now on month 7 of being told to not socialize or see or do anyt

This is pathetic. How the hell did a comapny as rich as Twitter not have a break-glass around accessing this data. No one person should have had this level of access. No TWO people should have had this level of access. Unbelievable.
