Silicon Valley is a very unique place so I am sure there will be other places in US that do not match this description but here you have a choice of: Living down in the Bay Area: - long uber (or car and no drinking) drive any time you want

I moved from London to work for one of the FAANG companies in SV and my salary has grew more than 10 times over 5 years (partially due to insane stock run). Having said that I still enjoyed life in London more and planning to come back to E
