It's also worth noting that the lead maintainer, Mark Otto, is also simultaneously heading design at GitHub as well. Not entirely two small things to deal with in your life, ha. :)

I think a lot of the problems with the YC/Thiel discussion stems from the difference between how people view it: is it a political disagreement, or is it an ethical disagreement? In a "normal" election, this would be pretty

It's becoming fairly normal at this point for more mature private companies, from what I can tell. If you've been at a company for 4-7 years with no IPO in sight, it can make some sense for the company to do a buyback. I know Uber

I think this might be one of those times where the title might lead to confusion in the comment section and leads people a bit astray. I saw this talk in person at Nordic Ruby, and it was one of the best talks I've seen (and I've

Not really sure what you're getting at, but I'm assuming you mean searching for specific syntax or language aspects. GitHub's definitely not "protecting" shit; it's just that search is a hard problem, and searc

Fun to see this up here. Originally when I built this there was some discussion on whether it made any sense to show a global view; most people are just going to use the issues dashboard to look at their own issues, obviously. Honestly, I j

Nah. I grew up in Fargo and, like everyone in Fargo, spent most of my time aspiring to spend more time in Minnesota and Minneapolis. Both Fargo and Grand Forks — on the border of the state, on the Red — share a ton culturally with Minnesota

I'm really not even sure a16z has corporate apartments. It's just poking a little fun in the middle of a dreary subject. I don't even own a single robe, much less twelve, although I'd be into it.

I can't speak to them now, but it happened a number of times while I was at GitHub. We'd have a number of things staff-shipped for weeks or months (occasionally a year!) and it was just... there... and nothing happened much to it.

Yeah; I tried to stay away from really low-level aspects (just because they're hard to generalize across languages), and also just because the damn thing was so long already, ha. :) As far as database migrations are concerned, GitHub (
