selection bias? Is KA randomly selecting these schools for their trials? Or is it a convenience sample? In that case the schools that elect to work with KA are not likely to be typical American schools.

If KA wants to be a nonprofit and do good, thats great. Charity is a good thing. But dont do it as a startup. What they are doing is not revolutionary, but another resource (albiet valuable). KA does not solve the fundamental problem that s

But its not an Obj-C to javascript compiler: its Objective-J, a entirely new language that is a strict superset of Javascript: pure Javascript is also valid Obj-J. You wouldnt call Objective-C an "Objective C to C compiler" since valid C is

LAMP is better than .NET because I dont need to buy Windows Server licenses to get going. That is a fair statement. LAMP is better because only losers use stuff from MS. This is the sort of argument that you see alot of on the internet.

I applied to Khan and they told me they have no slots to fill anymore (but thanks for trying...and feel free to contribute in your spare time). I can program in jQuery and know Django -- I sent them several demos directly related to generat

Well said. A lot of people on HN (including PG) like to diss Java as some backward corporate language. The fact that you can run Lisp on the JVM (clojure) shows that such criticisms are shallow. Lisp may be superior to Blub. But if Blub has
