It depends on your definition of the problem. The problem I would like to solve is ensuring that everyone perceives the market as fair, i.e., not tilted toward parties with access to privileged information.

We have a really simple way to deal with this. When competitors sign up for our platform, we send them email asking them if they see an opportunity to partner and if so to join us for a call. It's a nice way to start an open-ended conv

Perhaps your experience is different from mine but JSON string columns are very common in ClickHouse. A common schema idiom is to put the JSON in a string and then selectively materialize commonly queried properties into regular table colum

Specialized collections are not necessarily bad. ClickHouse has dozens of hash table implementations, each tuned to a specific use case. It's what you do when you need something to go very fast.

Conversely there are lot of things that are expensive and work very badly. "Designer anything" as for example, designer light fixtures. I've had terrible experiences with these.

Managed Kubernetes has really changed the economics of deployment. Kubernetes administration sucks about as much as vSphere or Open Stack. Which is to say: a lot. You can debate the details but you are talking highly trained people and pote

We use Kubernetes for our cloud database platform, which we are extending to new environments. It's been quite successful. We were able to port from AWS to GCP in a matter of weeks. We don't try to share tenants within a single Ku

> Except that state on kubernetes seems really hard to do well, and data is inherently state. This is changing. For databases the usual approach is to write an operator. Most databases these days typically have one (or more).

Even databases like MySQL and PostgreSQL do scale out for HA reasons--they have multiple replicas. It's easy to set this up on in Kubernetes, especially for databases that have operators.

There's a great quote about being a parent that's often attributed to Mark Twain: > When I was a boy of 14, my father was so ignorant I could hardly stand to have the old man around. But when I got to be 21, I was astonished at

Why do you want to know? This is a serious question. I'm asking because I find the hobby-level interest in nuclear war kind of offensive. It trivializes a profound threat to humanity.

You need to cite authoritative sources on that. Mental health is a significant contributor but not necessarily a root cause. Most studies I have seen show that housing costs are the determinative factor. [1] Treating people is the right thi

You are incorrect. We don't provide mentally ill people with even basic treatment, most particularly in cases where they are too sick to recognize the need themselves. Instead, we walk around people on the sidewalk as they suffer psych

Testable hypothesis: People who don't like Kubernetes also didn't like VMware back in the day. It has the same massive complexity underneath, indeed even more than K8s in my opinion. It requires high level of training to operate.
