This is pretty much why syncthing is really cool (but for some reason hasn't caught on). You just install one single binary (or a package form your distro, preferentially), and it shows a clear and non-tech-user-oritented UI. Also, it&

Plugin just spins forever with no results on one of my clients old websites: https://www.ideasenfoto.com/ I tried a great deal of sites using similar tech, and an infinite spin is all I get on all cases.

Licensing is a problem for SOME formats. ZFS, ext4, and plenty of others used by BSDs and Linux distros have no licensing issues. Also, if any player cared to win the filesystem war, they'd open up their spec royalty-free.

Being someone who's always worked in open offices (for almost ten years now), I can't even think of what an alternative would be. Single offices per developer, kinda like lawyers? It seems that would take up a chunk of space, and

What do you mean on Firefox? As far as I understood, you could only land on AMP pages if using google's search app or alike -- am I missing something?

Given that google doesn't usually accurately describe why accounts are closed, such an insurance company would never be able to prove insurance fraud and be completely exposed to it.

That's exactly my point; having a paid-for entry barrier is already to high for something lacking adoption. And since JIDs look email-like, people prefer them to BE exactly their email.

Arguably, this might happen in the long run. They might slowly lose dev over the years if they neglect documentation, which will eventually hurt the app ecosystem. Eventually, that'd affect user. Very hard to say if the problem is seri

I'm completely amazed (and a bit disgusted) at how they don't want the tomb to be found "out of respect". The guy was responsible for the eradication of many civilizations, and a ridiculous amount of plundering, death, a

Alexander the Great is far from being idolized the way Genghis Khan is being idolized in this article. As for the rest of that list, I don't recall any of them having been responsible for massacring and plundering almost an entire cont

I've been using Here Maps (from Nokia) pretty happily for years. It's worth checking out (oh, even though it's a Nokia thing, there's an iOS app).

Amazing. I've had the exact opposite results for years. The only place I've ever seen DDG fails is local results (eg: searching for a nearby restaurant). Then again, I'd expect it to, given they don't know where I am.

People switched to Google Maps because Apple Maps was absolutely awful and completely unusable. Even today (the actually happened this morning), I type an address two blocks away and I'm shown an address in Portugal. I live in Argentin

I completely disagree. DDG's results have been better than google's for years now. From time to time I sit next to a friend or coworker and watch then trying to google something. I DDG looking for the same information and it'

I don't think they run their API servers behind a CDN, that's not really a common thing at all.

It _looks_ really cool, but I feel that with all the extra bells and whistles taking up so much screen estate, I'd need a 50" monitor on my desk just to actually _use_ ~27".

If you want to make a business rather than a product then don't just slap a subscription model onto a product, but rather, work with an actual business idea.

Another very important thing is some form of free hosting. I used to have my own prosody server a long long time ago. Eventually, I got fed up, since very few people used XMPP. I just got rid of it and barely noticed any difference. If I ha

In reality, the most important thing isn't really the protocol, but how to market it. We've had open, standard, (some also federated) IM protocols that were on-par with proprietary ones at the time multiple times in the past. The

> I wouldn't raise huge sums of money or break any records This guy would raise a ton of money, even if that wasn't his goal and didn't try to oversell anything. His history in making games speaks too much for itself.

Sure, they have clients, but it's far from being a huge hit (contrary to, for example, Spotify). The amount of people using it are extremely small, which is doubly bad when you consider it's almost-out-of-the-box on Android phones

They generally ask for a phone number nowadays for new accounts, so you'd need a new number for each one (or reuse the same one, which defeats the purpose of the disposable accounts).

I do, actually. But I really like to keep a history so I can later recall what I looked up (or sometimes, the other way around: I need to look at my history).

GVFS has been working for years, but it's not even used related to the linux kernel at all. It's actually a GNOME-thing.
