Our 13 year old Miele dishwasher broke last week. I had a service call booked but cancelled because it wouldn't be worth the parts and labour costs of multiple hundreds (good chance something else will break next year). I had a lot of

Sometimes I like to middle click and move my house instead of using the wheel (nicer on my joints). Sometimes I like to even just move it a little and have it auto-scroll as I read. It's a fun game to try and match my pace and more eng

Maybe not fixing it was on purpose, but I doubt the original bug was. They could've just added a more straightforward sleep/delay in the code. If anyone finds it they can say it was accidentally leftover testing code because they

It's the FB app on a new iPhone, set to Sydney where we live. There are no DST options I assume "it just works" covers all that. There is an option to resync inside the FB app, which refreshes and... doesn't change a thi

It's rife in the industry. The drama this week is that my wife can't log in to Facebook because their code generator just doesn't work. The number in the app shows up, she types it, but she can't log in because apparentl

Interesting point I saw on this site a while ago - most people are well trained to work out hourly compensation by time spent working. By that metric, ignoring hair loss, you and your coworkers earn the same per hour. Let's flip it and

Jaywalking is an odd example since I've lived in Sydney for 20 years and don't know anyone busted for it. I've seen many people cross at lights like this even with police cars sitting and waiting in traffic in clear sight. I

There was (is?) a rumour that changing light globes was technically illegal under the letter of the law in Victoria. A quick search shows this may have been a 1998 law amended in 1999. Either way, people believed it which says something.

Australia is very apathetic in general. "She'll be right" is basically our national motto and while it can be good for overcoming external adversity and natural disasters, I don't think it's serving us too well when

For cases like this I think consistent enforcement is the most important thing. In the short term it may sound great that a lot of companies are erring on the side of caution and not using the data, when perhaps they could. But if there

Yes, I don't think a wiki is really appropriate for most recipes at all for this reason. There are many different ways to do a recipe each at least close enough to equally valid that you'll have those people arguing over nitpick

Yeah it's definitely SEO fluff. No one is enforcing copyright on their blog's recipe. And another site can still extract the recipe portion anyway.
