When Microsoft tried this in the last generation, they got totally steamrolled. Many Xbox gamers switched to Sony (myself included), heads rolled internally, and Microsoft renegged. What changed this generation? Game Pass? Maybe consumers b

Seems to be a very basic social network based on concepts from an old protocol called finger. This website seems to replicate it as a bit of nostalgia. As you might know, finger is an old protocol (actively used well before my time) which i

Eerily similar to me! Minus winning the computer, would have begged someone instead! My mother wasn't very happy with my experiments with group policy, which included adding the secure attention sequence (control alt delete) to her log

This brings back great memories. Windows 2000 sparked my interest in computing. I was in elementary school and was obsessed with the 'Log on to' dropdown box on Windows login screens, and how you could use the same credentials on

I made the mistake of reinstalling macOS on my late 2015 rMBP using internet recovery. I found myself locked in a loop where I couldn't upgrade to the latest macOS because it required 2FA. I called Apple Support and didn't tell me

Also thoroughly unconvinced by this aspect of his reasoning. More generally, I think publicly shaming individuals is a nasty thing to do.

Cost is also a valid factor. You're not going to get an affordable PC with comparable specs that run 4k games. At some point your PC might break even, but in the here and the now, a console makes sense. I'd only recommend a PC if

Depends on the nature of the issue at trial. Sometimes it's fairly confined. Usually they don't need to understand the whole thing. But the interpretation isn't piecemeal and usually requires understanding the background.

At least in theory, Windows Update would be used to force an upgrade to the newest driver. Which in turn could implement serial number blocking.

I think this is a tu quoque fallacy. In my view, it is OK to invoke personal feelings about whether personal feelings should be invoked in relation to the enforcement of a software license.

There's plenty of large PHP projects that adopt this paradigm. Is it really fair to say it will be completely irrelevant for the rest of their careers? Also, let's not lose sight that this arises in a context of criticism of the m

Sorry, I don't understand your first point, even after reading it several times. I think I might have inferred what you meant by looking at the second (edited in) point, but I'm not sure. Are you suggesting that it is bad that PHP

On the contrary, doesn't it highlight that the PHP development ecosystem values simplicity? That is, a simple application (which this is) can be contained within one file, rather than something requiring several folders, dependencies,
