Seems like sama may have put a big hole in that argument when he tweeted "her", now it is very easy to say that they knowingly cloned ScarJo's likeness. When will tech leaders learn to stop tweeting.

The data pipeline isn't included in this release, and we already know it is a pretty simple RAG pipeline using qdrant, https://twitter.com/qdrant_engine/status/1721097971830260030 . Nothing about using data in

Yeah I would very much likely to know what caching library has a failure mode of returning content for the wrong keys, that seems pretty bad if not a highly suspect explanation

Driving 10 hours both ways to an AWS event to look at some slide decks you can already find online and eat some mid-tier catering doesn't seem like a great use of a day to me.

I asked for an image of The Muppets as the counter-terrorist team from Counter Strike and that got blocked, so "terrorism" is definitely getting picked up understandably.

As with most of these tools, it appears that it is reasonably easy to get it to generate some truly hilarious/disturbing stuff, probably not for long: https://www.reddit.com/r/ChatGPT/comments/16wf1i0

I find it very surprising that this is not the top post at the moment. My partner went to work at her bar at 5PM ET, and their Square services which processes reservations, transactions, payroll and even staff scheduling is at a stand-still

There has been some shuffling of seats but from what I am hearing FAIR is the best setup as far as staffing and funding that they have been in quite some time. Mark is pivoting hard to stay competitive in AI and is providing the resourcing

Should a one person developer shop be bringing their own stack to a client? Seems like a problem once you inevitably roll off the project.

Maybe I'm grumpy today but I am shocked at how many responses you are getting where people think this is a novel idea. Has the engineering mindset really shifted into a default of "buy" even when build could take less than a

15 minutes of install, install, install beats getting into the vicious SAAS vendor cycle of pay, pay, pay with heavy lock-in.

I've hosted embedding models on AWS Lambda (fair that this is a vendor, but 1 vs. 3), if you try an LLM with 1B+ parameters you will struggle, but if the difference between a light-weight BERT-like transformer and an LLM is only a few

Am I being unreasonable to find it bizarre that the tutorial begins with subscribing to 3 different SAAS vendors? Especially seeing these days you can run a vector store on-disk if you have less than 10 million records, pull any free embedd

Thinking about how both The Flash and Indiana Jones 5 are doing disastrously at the box office, and likely spent a lot of ad budget on Twitter that is now getting zero return. Can't imagine Disney and WB are going to be thrilled.

This is extremely unhelpful speculation, Bob Lee had not been a part of Square/Block for many years before the incident, if this was truly connected to the facilitation of money laundering and fraud, why target an ex-CTO of all people?

Unmaintained and putting up a pay-wall are not mutually exclusive. Sounds like they are going to layer a new pricing model on-top and leave it at that.

I think a more rational approach would be to join a company in the AI field, rather than quitting on the spot because you think the robots are going to shortly take-over.

Any Tesla or Space X workers want to weigh in here, can't feel good to be under the pump 24/7 while your CEO has spent most of his time since November arguing with everyone online.

Seems a valid use of resources if you have a way to vaguely associate it to some academic side-project, just don't start monetizing the output and beware the wrath of stressed out PhDs if you use too much capacity.

I got a rental raise for a 1 bedroom in Bushwick from $2700 to $3500. I told them this was unreasonable for the area, but they refused to budge on the price, offering a paltry $50 discount. That apartment eventually got re-rented for $2700
