To be fair, many industries have incentive to predict good markets. Automotive, luxury, finance, etc... None of these benefit from recessions. These people need to sell you, that you will have a job tomorrow.

There is definitely no planned obsolescence. There are specifications. We don't buy overkill material. At worst, we stop tracking issues of they are too old, like after 5 years of use. Edit, due to HN limits. The person below me doesn&

The difference is that, with GM, you expect your car to move you. With Tesla, you are showing off that you bought a luxury vehicle. It's surveying a different question.

As someone in automotive, if anything breaks on your car, it's worst case scenario. In 2019, people don't want their cars to break at all. Even a trivial matter might have you lose a customer.

I have no idea how they became second/third place in computers, but they definitely have left a terrible legacy for developers to deal with. Moving away from Apple means significantly lower development costs, and more time on universal

Unobtrusive? Try having a legitimate criticism of Apple. Odds are it gets flagged. I don't mean to limit it to Apple, the mods have a heavy hand.
