The OP's argument seemed sort of sensible to me until I read this. Ideas need to compete. If it's not Gecko vs Webkit, it'll be Webkit vs other branch of Webkit. Monoculture will only last until "Why don't you accept my pull request, when t

I'd love a non-technical co-founder, if I could only find one. Most business-oriented people I meet like being employed. The only people I meet that are interested in startups (interested in building one, rather than having built one, succe

When I do think about what I'm eating, I use the "Eat food, not too much, mostly plants" rule. Ready-made meals frequently don't quite meet the first criteria for me, so I couldn't care less about 10 grams of fat.

Thank you. I can't count the times I've tried to explain this to people. The purpose of amazon's site is not that visitors think it's pretty, or even easy to use. It's to get you to buy as much as possible. And there's convincing evidence t

When I read negative thinking, I expected the "expect the worst and you won't get disappointed". This is more of imagining the worst thing that could happen, and realizing it's not that bad. Which is not really pessimistic; maybe rather opt

"Skillful attachment", what a wonderful expression! Doesn't seem that widespread, google-wise, but it definitely goes in my decidedly not very Buddhistic list of rules to live by.

I've been working on a variation of this with a connection to a flashcard app [ http://www.vocabulous.net ]. Basically whenever you look up an unfamiliar word you can tap "add" and it ends up among your flashcards. Now I just need amazons b

Very true. One way around that is to put more than one word on your flashcard; a phrase of five-ish words enough to study in that way, but long enough to show some grammar and context ("the elephant has a long trunk").

Ex-neighbors of mine are trying to accomplish this, I think they're working with one of the big game publishers. They have a demo of left4dead on their site: http://gooengine.com/
