Neat. I'm trying to write a browser, of a kind, which is focused on only presenting content, navigation, and an index of content where appropriate. I'll try to incorporate things like this into my thinking. (Browser is here, very

The monopolistic practices are largely about (IMO) forcing standard adoption to make it impossible to develop new browsers. I suspect competition law is ill equipped to turn that into action, though.

I recently saw a "adblockers aren't allowed on youtube" gate from Firefox. I recommend using Minitube on Linux desktop now. Plus youtube-dl and NewPipe.

It isn't an either/or for most countries. I suspect America and Russia will have to change enormously, the rest of the west just needs decent public transport, cogeneration of heat, insulation, and some changes to agriculture. Nob

I'd guess no western governments would fail. Personally I suspect when the west reaches its ideological reflexive response to climate change, it'll look like fascism. I also suspect we'd have preferred communism. What's

As jeremiads go, this is golden. I for one and persuaded and am grateful you wrote it. I hadn't considered before that DoH effectively takes an avenue away from people who want to block advertising and trackers. This makes it a fiercel

I mean, given that property as it exists in the modern world is a legal fiction allowing the few to extract from the many, do we not already live in a world of sinister authoritarians?

No advertising = no new businesses = back to medieval, pre-growth times. That is a little bit absurd. Maybe the person you're talking about is on to something. Why not ban advertising? We could just list products and services in direct

I find the criticism of GNOME a bit weird - personally, I love its user interface because it virtually isn't there. It gets out of the way and when I do see it, it feels clean and well organised. I'm old enough to remember the win
