i just got a new phone and it feels like i became indebted to the devil without actually signing anything. i might go back to my 7yo phone with outdated android. this is horrible what the phones have become.

after a bit more thought, you are right. this is the right approach. i just need to make sure the file is being fetched only once and if client closes the connection the file needs to keep being downloaded.

i was thinking about doing just that - when request comes, check local file, if not present, fetch from remote url. but the problem is with large files(GBs) that you cannot serve as fast and the client has to wait instead of being redirecte

firstly, stop drinking sweetened drinks. drink only pure alcohol. secondly, drink good alcohol. like extra old rum(generic term for well aged rums) or 12y+ scotch. thirdly, drink high ABV, non-chill filtered or as natural alcohol as you can

Strange, never had a problem with this. If I need to reference non-pointer I just use key(append(foo, items[k])) but i find it weird that the print example is not working since in loop the value is passed by copy, just like everywhere else

Personally I am subscribing to the Zecharia Sitchin's interpretation of Sumerian history and writings. Too many things just make sense.

using two tokens makes sense only if you have cqrs system. otherwise it's a complexity that brings no value.

i understand. the ingress will chunk the stream into those segments(1-2 seconds long), remember the encoded video is packed in mp4 container, and pass them on to the egress/edge/cdn servers into their in-memory buffers. so the onl

because you are comparing in-memory store with permanent storage. many kvdb can be run from memory if needed.

So far I think the best option will be to do it on my own. But I would do it this way - the source would have to be VBR, not CBR since no transcoding would take place. What is put in is also what will be put out. With 1Mbit recommended qual

i did, 6h stream at 1Mbit with 1000 viewers would be 108$. i can have 3 powerful VPSs with 2Gbit unlimited bandwidth in OVH. so far it seems there is no service that makes financial sense :(

yep, some other cdn(don't remember which) added up to $100. better than 360 but still outside of a budget for daily use. as a one-off, sure, price is not that important. but if i would have just one user streaming once a day for 6h i&#

I am not mixing anything. SVC is on the egress side, not on the ingress side. WebRTC is just a protocol. Seems you are the one mixing terms here ,)

i am not afraid of handling the infra myself but the problem is that the tech is still outdated so you have to do h264 and multicast. in other words you have to use old codec(h264), not vp8, vp9 or av1 and you have to transcode the ingress

no, you need to store the jwt in a cookie(or local store) because the jwt is signed. if you would have only cookie with user id then anyone would be able to pretend to be anyone by manually setting the cookie with some user's uid.
