Three things! 1. Computer programming, although I was very young. I learned by checking out a book on BASIC from my public library in the '90s. Thankfully, my parents noticed and sent me to computer camp after that. 2. Parliamentary pr

That's true, and PHP certainly has ease of deployment over Django. I generally deploy Django applications on services like Heroku or Render, but it can get expensive since you can't really re-use instances for multiple application

I use htmx, and I have a good amount of experience in the JS world. The main issue with JS frameworks like React is that it's painful to integrate into things like Django-rendered templates. It can definitely be done, but the tooling j

I read The Messy Middle and thought like the chapter titles were phenomenal, but felt everything in the actual chapters was fluff. Maybe I'll give it another try!

Personally, I don't think there's a real problem unless everyone panics. Banks are well-regulated and stable and have been for decades. That said, my investors & cofounder have both expressed gratitude that our startup banks w

I do this. Reach out to me at the email in the profile. My normal rate is $495 an hour, and I wouldn’t expect this to take more than an hour or two.

Only to the extent we market to folks who bill by the hour. But there are lots of people who work with legal documents who don't bill by the hour, and that's the target market for now.

My company, Magistrate [0], has elements that are heavily inspired by this book! Legal documents should be written in plain text, not Microsoft Word. Then, typographical conventions from books like this one can be enforced at the editor lev

Totally understand re the unexpected scale, and Render did pretty well, all things considered. I double checked the deploy times and it's closer to 5 minutes, so I updated my comment accordingly. I'm rooting for you!

We switched from Heroku to Render about 6 months ago. It was a great experience initially, but there are a lot of sharp edges we've encountered since then, to the point that if I were switching away from Heroku today, I'd consider

I'm an early stage founder who had the same question when I started. Refactoring UI[0] is a book made by the folks at Tailwind Labs which opened my eyes to the basics of web design. It discusses in an accessible way the specific things

I have this same question and also work in Django, so I think I know what OP is asking about. Django's code leans heavily into advanced Python features like metaprogramming. To use Django, you don't need to understand it, but once

We're working on integrating CodeMirror 6 into Magistrate ( https://getmagistrate.com/ ) for drafting legal documents in plain text. It's an incredible piece of software, and Marijn is very active in the community.

Looks cool! My company uses Django & Alpine.js so I will be keeping my eye on this. Would Tetra replace something like HTMX (htmx.org) or would it be used in conjunction with it?
