IIRC, Alex Gaynor was championing Memory Safety & Rust in the FTC. But then he left (or was ejected?) before the Trump Administration came in. I have no clue who is carrying the torch now. Someone probably, given that OP's docum

Yeah the GP’s reply was a little misleading/ambiguous. It begins by saying “great point” but then it distorts & argues against that point. Better just to disagree directly, I think.

Some people like to treat homelessness as sacred. The image of a spotless victim, who has no choice but to suffer, is an object of veneration, even love. It's an odd sort of worship but very common in the Bay Area.

You’re right; this happens a lot. The SQlite folks, half of Linux, and other maintainers have encountered the same kind of zealotry. Dealing with language supremacism is annoying and I don’t blame ffmpeg for venting. In fact, I’d even say t

I was a hiring manager and saw this happen firsthand. So much pressure to hire people with the right skin color or gender, even if they outright failed an interview. Some of the ones who were fast-tracked later struggled and then got fired.

The replies to this comment are untruthful. The journalist was clearly sympathetic to the author's ideology, which NPR later tried to conceal. As the diff from original to latest shows:[1] "hand-wringing about looting" -&

Do you have a source for "criticizing other languages not installed on 3 billion devices as too academic" ? Without more context, this comment sounds like rehashing old (personal?) drama.

Yup, they employed intense scrutiny on books before 2008, followed by ideological filtering as you noted, resulting in empty library shelves. On that note, it's sad to see the GP downvoted for raising this uncomfortable truth. I guess

The GP put in the work to verify his own memory, after acknowledging the gaps. And then you belittled him. He met the “standard” or guidelines of our community in a way you have not.
