This article is less an honest response and more a knee-jerk reaction. Raw, seething resentment that goes nowhere.

Yep, vanity is the mark of the CTO who cares more about the elegance of their code, than the effectiveness of their business. Funnily enough, the next company that hired the maintainer and went all in on Elm makes even less money than Prezi

Prezi was the first major adopter of Elm in industry. They hired the language author to work on it full-time. A few years later, they laid him off and deprecated their Elm codebase.

The GP didn't babytalk you. They just pointed out a seeming contradiction. Lashing out at bystanders & spamming passive-aggressive smilies does not cultivate trust in GIMP's leadership.

The GIMP roadmap indicates they're hoping support non-destructive editing in 3.2: https://wiki.gimp.org/index.php/Roadmap#GIMP_3.2 They apparently haven't thought about how to implement it yet.

I've always felt that JS could have been the language for shared mobile & server business logic. Write a throwaway script in a light, fast interpreted language, and then share it with your compiled, native platform-specific UI code

Very nice. I think wider adoption of the "write your app UI in each platform language, and then write your business logic in JS and share it between all platforms" pattern really depends on Android or iOS officially supporting JS

I wonder if JS could have been a better language for platform-agnostic business logic. Unfortunately, it looks the best approach is still to inject the JS inside of a webview, which has way too much overhead for background processing.

Huh, I was wondering why Unladen Swallow faded rapidly since 2009 and why Python seems secondary at Google compared to Java and Go. Silence and distance seems to be a common echo of failed projects.
