I remember a big argument in the early years of Android. Google kept promoting it (to the users) as a liberating "open source" OS - except it only worked that way until it reached the manufacturers and carriers. After that, comple

Indeed, it's the whole whitelist vs blacklist [1] debate. Whitelists are radically safer. [1] - https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8669/16418068728_b8dd8aa200_c...

I wish Android allowed power users to create "root accounts" on Android, similar to how you can create Admin accounts on Windows, but be completely isolated from the default safe account.

I know there are sites that ask "how much you're earning as a software developer" or whatever, to get an idea about how much people are getting paid for a type of job. But is there a website where it basically gives asks you

Well it's not meant to be a sports car, but this may be more to your liking: http://www.theverge.com/2015/7/17/8994649/new-tesla-roadster... My guess is it will also have at least a 500-mile range,

I wish them good luck. The car market could use more players that attract attention to high-quality electric cars. However, I'm not so sure about this sort of "all-star" unnaturally born companies. I think they usually fail.

The US government's "cybersecurity policy" is completely and utterly inadequate. Their thinking so far has been "well, let's leave aside the actual security stuff, and focus on getting cyber-weapons - the more c

Maybe do a "How an electric car works" site/page in the future. I imagine it would have quite a bit less content, though.

I wouldn't get too excited about it yet. The 9th Circuit Court tends to side with the copyright maximalists. And the Supreme Court hasn't been favorable to something like this either so far.
