It helps identify potential problems / conflicts across teams even before a single code is written (or development time committed).

The HN post title is incorrect. It's the exploit author who responded, not the hacker / cracker.

Yeah, I heard this too. TBH, I don't need Aurora-level performance (although it would be a nice option in the future), I'm just happy to have a vendor-managed PostgreSQL instance with granular price points. C'mon Google! :)

I mean, there is ElephantSQL [1] and Aiven [2], but I'd rather have something from Google themselves since I consider relational database a core part of the architecture and infrastructure. [1] - https://www.elephantsql.com&

One reason why I still can't use GCE in 2016. No PostgreSQL support for CloudSQL. I can find alternatives for other services, but I don't want to compromise on the choice of relational database. Note: I understand there are third-

There is also Azul Zulu Homebrew cask available, but last I checked it was a couple of patch version behind. https://github.com/caskroom/homebrew-cask/blob/master/Casks/...

I don't think this is true anymore [1]. They're bundling IntelliJ with custom OpenJDK (with needed bug fixes) in recent releases. In addition, I run on Azul Zulu [2][3] for Java / Scala / Kotlin development and haven

I noticed that you work on Akka.NET, and now this (Go actors). They look similar on the surface: supervision, state machines, etc. as other actor libraries... But, are there any key differentiating features? Also, what do you think of the r

Citus looks interesting. Anyone can provide some insight on how easy it is to transform an existing PostgreSQL cluster to a Citus one?

I don't think this analogy is accurate. It uses Java as the development language, but it has different runtime, not simply a different platform / target, and thus different rules apply. In regards with the Java libraries, I think

I think it has merit for devs looking to get involved in a particular tech (whatever their reasons may be). In the past I work almost exclusively within the .NET ecosystem (only some small projects in Java, Python, etc.). When I took up lea

I have the same response everytime someone from Perth pops up in HN :) Quite a recent picture as well... As I recall, the Rio Tinto logo on the Central Park building was only up a couple years ago.

I switched from Fake S3 [1] to Minio for local development. Fast and lightweight, good experience so far :) Easy to setup with Vagrant, and linking / sharing the Minio shared folder to the host makes it quite convenient to quickly chec

Most Elixir and/or Phoenix migrants I met came from Ruby / Rails shop [1], and those who have made the switch seems to be very happy with their decision. [1] Probably because Elixir is Ruby-like, and Phoenix has some Rails feel to

I have been considering Mesos for a side project (we're close to getting an amount of traffic that make sense for it). However, last I looked, persistent storage is still under active development and moving to a distributed database is

I don't think the cloud and/or auto-scaling would help here. Most likely this is due to poor architecture choices. Also, from what I can see, gov't departments normally outsource for projects and only ever retain staff for ma

The design seems only suitable for low-speed operations. So for your use case, it might work. But I see this as solving one problem and introducing three more, e.g. would this design be safe for cruising speed (>60km/h) or cornering

The CPU gets progressively expensive; and yes, more than 8 cores will probably blow the $4k budget. However, two things to note: 1) High-end i7 and Xeon with the same core count hover around the same price. However, Xeon are not made for ov
