I'm curious which IKEA top you used. I also looked at the Autonomous frame, but I don't think it'll work with my existing Karlby top (25 5/8" x 74").

Is it time to put an HF ham radio rig in each major provider’s office? I shudder thinking of a major outage where even phone communication can’t take place. I’m only half joking. Edit: and maybe we just give Verizon a toy walkie talkie

From what I understand, this will only affect Linux containers running on Windows. Is that correct? What about Windows containers? I know they're not nearly as popular, but we did evaluate them at one time for running a legacy Windo

I feel like that disconnect in the middle is why I can't leave a supposedly idle website open (even minimized) on my laptop while on battery power if I want it to last. Mobile seems to be headed in the right direction though.

I used to run an app on my old Android phones that turned them into a web based security camera. I'd plug them in around the house when we'd leave for vacation so I could keep an eye on things.

It also keeps me from developing some niche app to scratch an itch and share that with the world for free. Sure, I can always just release the code on Github and let people compile it themselves, but unless the app is for developers who own

I'll reproduce my comment [0] here from a similar article earlier this year [1]. Note: I ended up setting up that pi-hole, and I see it blocking a ton of DNS lookups for these types of companies across my family's devices. > I

I worked at RadioShack in the late 90's. We had to ask for name, address, and phone number. It was just part of the transaction flow on the point of sale. If we got resistance, we could just put it under a "CASH CASH" custome

Chromebooks are great, but there is certainly still some risk if extensions are enabled. My daughter was having problems with her Chromebook, and I found that a bunch of shady extensions had been installed (I had a flashback to the 90'

Same with me and these random chest pains I get. I've wiped out my HSA, still not close to meeting my deductible. Hooked up to an EKG for 15 minutes and monitored for an hour in the ER? That'll be $5k. 15 minutes on a treadmill wi

The product that I maintain at work started life in the late 1980’s as a DOS application written in a mix of C and ASM. All of the original code comments are still present. Every once in a while I’ll go spelunking through some of those for

We've had digitized (eInk, LCD) price tags for well over a decade now. They just haven't seemed to take off anywhere except for Kohls (at least in my area).
