I can recommend getting a Nextcloud instance on a third-party cloud provider (I’m using Hetzner) and using the Nextcloud apps. Fast and lightweight!

Similar appeal for me! I have a neighbor with a VanMoof and they are one of the few bikes that can just be parked in a corner with a kickstand and doesn’t need to be locked to a metal bar or other static thing. And this VanMoof has been aro

Running on standard replaceable batteries is definitely a feature and not an “outdated design”, especially when it comes to sustainability. And for some devices you can also have both replaceable batteries and charging ports (e.g. some came

Ah, that’s very cool content! I’d love to subscribe via RSS though, because I want to read at my own leisure without getting my inbox spammed. :/

Have you tried the pdf viewer of your browser (Chrome-based)? That might work. I’m usually using Apple’s Preview app (which has very solid PDF editing features), but I suspect that you’re not on macOS.

That’s a cool insight about TypeScript’s type handling! Since it’s just about one specific case, the title of the blog post should ideally be a bit more specific, in my opinion.

Not everyone is happy to move around in the world just to earn more money. I can’t imagine that a lot of people from Europe would just move to other countries or even continents, just to make more money. So, I don’t expect a “brain drain” t

The original street pass feature of the Nintendo 3DS would let you “passively” play some games with other 3DS players you encountered in real life (even and especially when your 3DS isn’t even opened). That way you would check your 3DS late

As a user I wouldn’t have liked one big app for everything. It’s an interesting idea to combine the two worlds, but I’m happy to use dedicated apps that can focus on each network’s unique features. Should also be easier to build and maintai

There’s an incredible amount of corruption among German politicians, especially among the “richer” parties CDU/CSU and FDP who are constantly being lobbied and bought by managers in the bigger industries (e.g. automobile and constructi

Interesting! So, you’d still back up your full cloud storage elsewhere (Backblaze has been mentioned by other users), even though your cloud storage provider does backups themselves (e.g. Hetzner claims to do several backups every day)?

You’re right, pCloud is not a bad alternative! I remember being annoyed by the password prompt for the encryption feature, but another user here wrote that they only need it once after every restart, which seems fine to me now. Back when I

Hey, author here! I agree that objectively, it’s not much work to maintain the Synology NAS once everything is correctly set up. But I personally just got tired after attempting to configure the network access alone for the nth time. My goa

I agree, the article seems very anecdotal and grossly generalizing. The point at the end might be to look for a company that suits you, but that’s not really a new insight, is it?

You can use other free apps for 2FA, e.g. Authy. That might even be better for security because even if your password manager account is hacked/leaked, you would still have the 2FA setup in a separate app/platform. That being said
