Comparing Democratic/Republican parties to a theocratic church is laughable. They could only dream of being as organized and as wealthy. Imagine being required to give 10 to 20 percent of your income to a political party.

SLC makes all the difference. It's quite different elsewhere in the state. I've lived and worked in multiple locations and was happiest in SLC but housing prices are absolutely outrageous for what you get.

There are lots of Mormons in Idaho too, as evidenced by BYU in Rexburg, Idaho.

I grew up in the Salt Lake Valley. The land is amazing, the people not so much. Not sure how this whitewashing of history ended up on the front page but I find it amusing that the author consistently uses quotes around "Mormons".

It seems like every Android device that I've had becomes ridiculously slow after a few years. Not even a factory reset helps. I'd be happy turning a few tablets into one of these ideas or even nothing more than glorified terminals

My golden rule of sys admin is that anything on a Linux based OS can be fixed. Preferably without a reboot. Though a friend of mine once discovered that it's a bad idea to force remove glibc (on a non BusyBox distro, of course).

Turning "rolling" into "roll" is something a stemmer does. I'd imagine there are a number of JavaScript libraries readily available for this.

Out of curiosity, are you funding it? I've been funding it (a small amount monthly) for a long time now. I wish it had existed about 15 years ago in college when I had lots of time on my hands for toying with game making.

Sorry but almost no one driving personal vehicles is driving the speed limit on this stretch of I-15. Most motorcyclists I've seen here are driving well above it and weaving in and out of traffic. It's certainly odd in this case

I drive this stretch of I-15 regularly. I can vouch for the fact that the road would have been practically deserted at this time of night. Fog is extremely rare because the air here is so dry. I have to wonder if the motorcyclist had a non-

It actually is. Some states are far worse than others. In my state, a learning permit can be obtained at the age of 15. Not exactly a good age for handling grave responsibility.

You make good points but you forgot to factor in the 2 hours early that you need to show up at the airport. Getting on and off a train can take only minutes. I've only ridden Amtrak once but I guess there are also security requirements

Never heard of ubports. Looks interesting. A 40 year old just learned something from a 13 year old. If this is how you're spending your free time, then you have a bright future ahead of you. Keep it up!

Not only are the quotes great but I learned a lot of famous dictators' names as an elementary school age kid. The oddity of the names and their use in Scorched stuck with me for a long time as later in life I learned why these not-so

A big joke indeed. Massive overhead has been created for what is a relatively small job. The Spacemen (because the Air Force has Airmen, right?) seem awfully concerned with all the trappings of being a separate military service than actuall

Actually, it's worse than that because it's all gone digital except to get anything done relies upon ten separate, disparate computer systems all designed by different contractors and a third of them are down for maintenance. Oh,

Depends on how tightly coupled the WM is to X. My chosen tiling WM (StumpWM) is not easily portable. The development discussion has been that it's easier to rewrite. I used xmonad for years before that.. Well, it's in the name. I

French may be a bad example but at least some language regulation is actually nice, otherwise you end up with the dumpster fire that is English spelling. I say this as someone teaching two young children to read.
