Zig zags are to prevent enfilading fire (clear field of fire down the length of the trench such that rounds have the opportunity to strike multiple targets). That might have been what you were getting at though.

I'm looking forward to seeing this appear on Savannah with a corresponding mailing list. Or maybe on Sourcehut? Since the author did leave this tidbit on the Code page: > As for Savannah being not entirely modern, well, I like the f

I was thinking the same thing, except I pipe shell script output into dzen2. For bonus points, make the text display the currently clocked-in Emacs org-mode task. Of course, this appears in the emacs mode line, so maybe just style it to mak

Bacula is great software, but yes, fiddly to set up and SCSI tape drives / changers aren't really straightforward either. It will serve you well once all is set up though. I worked for a company using Bacula quite successfully for

Quite interesting that New York ranks second smallest and a whopping $420/sqft. The data are quite skewed by the NYC area. We sold our typical Western New York home (~1,700 sqft) in 2016 for about $42/sqft.

That is an excellent application of partitions but it's better done with LVM so you can change the partitions' sizes easily. You should be able to install LVM on the whole disk.

One of my favorite things about modules is the little embedded messages in the files from the author. Sometimes they were about the music, sometimes a shout out to friends in the scene, sometimes very random. Reading them even ~25 years ago

You might want to look into Emacs with evil mode and TRAMP. TRAMP lets you remotely access files on a remote machine as if Emacs were running on that machine with all its IDE bells and whistles. It does require LSP programs and such to be o

I've read a ton of clever, whimsical (usually highly critical) reviews. The reviews are full of examples of fine twists on the employment of the English language. That said, I don't pay much attention to them usually. It's pr
