It was a terrible idea to have a class of debts that can't be discharged with bankruptcy. That it's mostly incurred by young who lack perspective makes it even worse. Someday people will look back on this the way we view debtor's prison.

I'd suggest food allergies / intolerances. Unfortunately the tests for those are very unreliable. The thing to do is try cutting a few things out and see what happens. I'd start with dairy or maybe wheat or both. Good luck.

I'd love to see this. Python just has better libraries in the most important areas: numerical computation, machine learning, etc., than any other platform. It's main downside is that you can only get at them from one language. Can't wait

No explanation within the article. That was annoying. Any ordinary sailboat sails faster than the wind when going roughly perpendicular to the wind direction. But this is apparently something different.

Actually I think GitX (note: you want the Brotherbard fork of it) is that. I haven't learned much about Git from using Github, but GitX is great for that.

Well, I'm no physicist, but I agree - it's bogus. The problem, I think, is that it assumes that time is the fourth dimension. Instead it should be the last dimension. So if you're talking about 6-space, then time should be the 7th dime

Start the video demo at 2:25 to skip the incidental details. EDIT: And you can stop at 3:40 to skip the other incidental details.

Right, but it's in how it sounds. Hmmm, maybe what I want to say is that the performer is up and the composer is down.

This is music sort of like the writing you get from a Markov text generator. Except much better. Has anyone gotten any good thoughts or ideas from a Markov text generator? And that illuminates something about music: the patterns aren't a

Imagine if you let a designer loose on it, the disaster that would ensue. No. Or that is, it depends on the designer. I'd think most of the better designers would keep it clean.

Both come from Lockheed's 'Skunk Works' and they applied a lot of what they learned on the U2 to the SR71, so you're not so far off.

Agreed on the Farmville angle. I think there are a lot of people who would love to get their kid or S.O. off Farmville and doing something productive. The visual design is already perfect for this.

This is great! Really good visual design, too. It looks quite featureful already - perhaps you should have launched earlier? I'm going to pass this on to people.

When you focus on a flawed measurement you get distorted results, proportionate to the amount of flaw. GI is only moderately correlated with "good foods". I predict focusing on it will end up causing more harm than good. When you can pou

You're more right than you know. BMI and GI have exactly the same problem: they aren't used because they measure the right things very well but because they are easy to calculate.

Agreed. But you link to HBS's "Working Knowledge" in the YC library. Is there much good stuff there? HN voters don't seem to think so. (That link in the YC lib broken now, btw. It's redirecting to their front page. You want this now:
