Google has the responsibility to inform users that the software they are using has known vulnerabilities as much as they have a responsibility to disclose them quietly to the software vendors that can fix them. The way you laid things out,

I think, even as an internal collaboration tool, the faces of who has been touching a repo recently are very valuable. Who do I go to for help, or to get a PR approved, or to request a new feature?

> Without this single, standard definition of "open source," software development as we know it would not be possible. There is no trust in a world where anyone can invent their own definition for open source, and without trust

The Xiaomi scooter I have has 2 brakes, but you only have direct control of one. The motor does some regenerative braking any time you let off the accelerator, which I've found is enough to cruise down a moderate grade quite nicely. So

Divorce is an option. Legally divorce then cut a new will to leave 100% to the wife before you start your treatment. That way she's only out half at most if the medical debts take everything. You'd have to be careful to not treat

I have done some pencil math about the unit economics of these scooters a few times but I have to guess at usage rates, attrition, permit fees, and labor costs. I want to write out my reasoning here so I can share my thinking. I assume the

I got a Xiaomi scooter for $305 directly from them as part of a 10 scooter order (including shipping costs). Bird and Lyft both use these exact scooters. I'm sure they are getting a better deal than I did, but the tariffs have since ki

I'm having a hard time picturing this as anything but standard stock/option grants negotiated per employee. How do you correlate a particular individual's contributions to profit in software? And even if you could really unde

You could couple this with code-coverage requirements, like coverage must always increase or stay level with every commit. That can still be gamed but at least it's harder and more obvious to other devs

Why is this a "joke"? Does a gaggle of teenagers running into a movie theater and yelling "fire!" constitute a joke? People might get seriously injured in the ensuing chaos. The same is (almost) true here, people lost mo

I think a lot of this stems from the way Software Development, as a practice, is evolving almost as quickly as Computer Science is (or at least there is a perception that it is evolving). Bridges are built largely the same way as they were

There are a lot more factors that makes this not "obvious". If you can make 40k as a paralegal and 80k as a lawyer, and you are 25 (30ish more working years), investing 3 years and 200k in law school might make sense. 30 years * 4
