I don’t see how this is an argument for how “books don’t work”. The author’s point seems to be that books don’t support learning, because books are static and can’t adapt to the thinking and working process of the reader/student. Somet

For those not familiar with Ada and bit representations, the compiler is exploiting the fact that types in Ada can have constraints that limit their size. T1 is a type of integer ranging from 16 to 19 (inclusive). Thus, it can only be four

A lot of the notation in coding theory is drawn from set theory, like ∈ (set membership). Which, more specifically are you confused about?

That is clever for sure, but the comment replied to referred to not understanding the symbols, despite being able to see them.

And you do the same in VHDL and Verilog. And like in Chisel, you have to manually pipeline it and you can exactly control where registers are used and how resources are reused. You could build something HLS like using Scala/JVM and Chi

Chisel is not a HSL. Chisel is much closer to VHDL and Verilog, since the hardware is directly described.

It really isn’t. It’s just a way of communicating the problem domain in the language. Maybe you should try it before passing judgement.

I primarily work in 1-indexed languages, but I think everyone is missing the forest from the trees in this discussion: indexing should be selectable by the programmer. One or zero indexing is a question about domain and communication. In si

I just want to weigh in and say that fantastic as _The Art of Electronics_ is, it is _not_ geared for learning about electricity and electric circuits. The first 13-ish pages (3rd edition) deals with electricity and then quickly moves on to

Proper mathematical notation is absolutely for the input. Maybe not integrals and sums (which are a bit unclear), but fractions, powers and the more specialized notation is quite nice for readability.

Yes, you could easily create a Zettelkasten in a single file. Or with pen and paper. The gist is focused and self-contained notes, linked together to form structure and connections. A personal wiki with attention of recontextualization.

What more do you want? Zettelkasten is very simple and that is the point: You create small and connected notes. This constraint turns out to be useful for research and writing for some people. There is no trick or secret to it.
