I'd fall into this explanation if I didn't need to post yesterday a sign-up form for my daughter's school.

Well, I think then you'd agree with that we need the right regulation so the right incentives are put in place, and that at best would be better not to have the industry dictate the regulation, that in this case sounds absurd. I was ve

Did you actually read my comments in this conversation? Are you aware that in Germany clinics have different prices than the ones you pay after insurance? I have always talked about prices before insurance , which is what I'm arguin

The United States leads the way in treatments and medical tech, but this gives me the impression that the US society is not benefiting as it could from that.

@garmaine I'm talking about the one the most prestigious clinic in South America in Santiago [1], and that's before insurance. I never paid that myself, because it was covered by the insurance. [1] https://www.clinicaal

Yes, and it would be even more expensive in Germany. But in both countries the insurance covers normally 50% of it, wherever you go. If not all. (Other sickness are covered normally 80% if not entirely whatever insurance you have)

I can tell you that you cannot freely open a clinic in Chile, and Doctors have the monopoly on many treatments that are delivered by nurses or other workers in Europe. Becoming a Doctor is not easy, and foreign Doctors must go through diffi

This is absurd. Even in a country with liberal economics and "free choice" health system (however with universal care, and state regulation), the same stitches in a world-class private clinic in Santiago, Chile would cost 400 USD,

I got sucked into React, graphQL and Nodejs and and always missed Rails, with all the hype I never thought that the environment would be so far behind. It's all my fault. But now that Rails has incorporated Stimulus as a sane approach

I think this is not the case. Actually, it's more like they give you some restricted benefits matching something near the fees incurred. And only if you redeem them. It is also virtually cross subsidy from people paying cash/bank

It is mind blowing that in 2021 we have a payment system collecting a fairly big percentage of the economy's output. I don't know for sure, but 2% over revenue could easily be about what the government collects in corporate taxes

Outline looks fantastic. I prefer open source to build a Knowledge Base for my business. I would def not use a proprietary system. IN my understanding the licence allows me to use it and do what I could do with a normal open source licence

Thanks for sharing your story. My German wife could not help herself getting emotional about the character of the people there, where she lived for 10 years, while I read her your post.

The resources actually don't go anywhere. You can have deposits and investment in many countries owned by these shell companies. There are mostly used to conceal the actual owner of those assets, if nothing else.

A way to think about this is to see Google (or Apple) as a De-Facto State which governs a very important "ecosystem" in which customers and other businesses rely almost exclusively on. Its very existence depends on businesses an
