If you work on a team then you end up talking about rather than actually doing stuff quite a lot. Often people talk to show they know stuff rather than actually producing results. Quite often it can just devolve into a battle of egos. Even

It's not good for teens or people before 25. Again you're trying to be silly when a serious discussion is what is required.

I don't necessarily think it's unwise as such but I think it's good to clear and honest with your intentions. If you're doing it for status then be honest with yourself about it.

Why would work not be getting done? It's just a weed stereotype. Some people are inspired or more productive after smoking.

It's not play if you're doing it for such reasons. To do it for play means just to do it for the activity itself with no ulterior motive (including career growth). Similar to kicking a ball against a wall - you do it because it&#x

Stick to the basics, make it fast, ignore what the PM has to say, and avoid feature-bloat.

I agree with everything you said but for the problem then simply becomes how do we do all that but do it remotely? Like why not just encourage more social chat? Have lunch on Zoom etc

Find a programming language you actually like and want to use rather than what will be popular for this is the way to true happiness. You don't want to have to code javascript just because it's popular.

If it's not broken, why fix it? I go to goodreads for the high-quality book reviews and community. I literally don't care about UX or fancy algorithms. I'd rather use an old algorithm called 'talking to someone I know&#x

Funny because in my experience people are good at math tend to like playing games. At a certain level, every game is math after all.

I find it so curious you think of something like a marathon as Type 2 activity. For me it's the supreme Type 1 activity. As in when I am running there is nothing else I'd rather be doing even with the pain etc.

I remember when I'd read genuinely thoughtful posts on Livejournal. There would be no stupid memes, no instagram style selfies, no ad spam, just people in my city or from across the world, reflecting on their life.
