The same argument can be made about credit card users generally being subsidized by those who pay with cash.

One can’t make a reasonable argument that anything is “supposed” to be consumed by another creature. Eggs aren’t inherently meant to be eaten, yet many predators scavenge them and they happen to be a good food source. The claim I often hear

The blog entry even states, “While still tough, this decision was easier to make as people looking for licenses will be able to download 1Password 7 directly from our website. I know this isn’t ideal for those who love the Mac App Store and

You can just buy a license to 1Password whenever you want, though... it’s not subscription only.

This isn’t even a reasonable way to compare product pricing. Xbox Live Gold costs nearly as much as Office 365 Personal annually, and it is barely useful unless you own games to go with it. Or we could compare Office 365, at $70, to Apple i

I’ve shelved or packed away countless notebooks over the years, usually because I know my handwriting is terrible and my organizational skills are crap.

Can definitely relate to this — though I own an SLR, I’m so afraid I’ll hurt it that I’ve never taken it to places where I’d really enjoy getting better shots, instead opting for my phone’s camera.

It’s quite convenient to present those numbers without context. In the context of prior performance and international circumstances, Obama brought the deficit down from the end of the Bush era as a recession began to recover, but the first

There's no evidence that Amazon bought Whole Foods because it's an upmarket grocery store and avoided others. It's very likely that Amazon will eventually buy a "normal" grocery chain and serve as large of a popul

Like it or not, it's a prevailing stereotype in the US. After a trip to London a couple years back, I know that's not true, but the stereotype is going to take a long time to wear down.

Counteroffers are widely regarded as a terrible thing to offer -- it sets a precedent that anyone, at any time, can attempt to hold your company hostage for more money. Most organizations with much industry experience will pass on any sort

I take your point, but I think it’s important to note that the iPhone SE is half that price. In India, it’s about $309 today.

It's not income if you never exercise the option. Imagine starting as a senior-level manager at a company that's a few years into its life. They provide you with a salary of $150k/year and 100,000 options at $1 with a standar

Existing grants would be grandfathered in, so giving them back may not make much sense. Future grants, though, should just be killed and you should negotiate for higher pay.

In some parts of the US, the weather is bad for half of the year. In those places, malls are bustling with activity every weekend. I think this is a regional thing; in warmer climates, outdoor shopping centers with community-centric areas h

Never? I certainly prefer a mall over a nice outdoor space (which I have available to me) when it’s freezing outside with a sheen of ice covering everything.

A man was let go for allowing a family member to record video of an unreleased device on company property. In onboarding materials, it is extremely clear that this sort of thing will get you fired.

In TDD, you write the test to help figure this out. The idea is that you start with "how do I call this method/interact with this code/etc?", then ask yourself, "what should the result be?" TDD is meant to help

That argument is true today, but over time, I think the gap will close. A similar argument could be made in the mid-20th century against television. Back then, picture quality was low, screen size was small, and sound quality was terrible.
