Gaming on steam works on Centos/RHEL as well as Ubuntu too. While most folks would not think of Centos as a desktop OS, we end up using it for our dev workstations as it matches up nicely with production servers. Christmas time last

It was not too long ago that Ireland ruled that there was so much sugar in the Subway bread it was 'cake'. Sugar made up 10% of the weight of the flour. https://www.npr.org/2020/10/01/919189045/

Years back, I use to cover Europe and had taken Latin at University. Was use to stumbling through a language as there were enough common roots that I could parse enough words to sort of make sense of things. Got a work project in Tokyo an

You can call Java from Oracle's PSQL, so that makes it a super set including Java, right? :P (I've done things I'm ashamed of)

It is simple enough to set up windows to use the normal boot rather than the RAID one. I've got my XPS set up with one drive in Linux, one in Windows - and boot into the drive I want to be in.

Stupid light does not have to mean life or death. I was shaving a few ounces from my pack - and switched to a hex tarp for my hammock. Got caught up in a rainstorm where wind shifted directions, and ended up getting soaked. I picked up a

Certs make for good bonus fodder. The boss wants some sort of quantifiable achievement to pay out the MBO, certs are an easy way to go about it. The act of prepping for the test has value - even if the certificate themselves do not.

I'm hoping that if nothing else comes from this, that Ticketmaster suffers a fatal blow from this zombie apocalypses gap in live events. Truly a bane on any live event.

Heh. With ads, this was always one of the ways I could embarrass my Bride. You are reading '50 Shades of Grey' or whatever trashy novel shows up on the cover of her gadget. Always makes her blush.

Electronics are usually the key payload - but things like water, fuel, and other 'potential solids' could use a cheap way to get them out of the gravity well.

Code rots/rusts faster than most physical objects. Requirements change, libraries update at a breakneck speed. I've had to deal with some (functional) languages that don't allow you to change the the variable where some woul

I'm pretty convinced my i9 mac does not have a fan either. A noise maker, yes... but the 2018 model just seems to have a loud audible indicator that docker started. :)

The BIOS is configured for RAID rather than AHCI/SATA by default. Bumped into that with mine. It was fairly easy to modify Windows to not use the RAID version so I could boot into Linux on one drive and boot into Windows on the other
