It’s not about ff being slow. That was never a reason to switch (unless it was misconfigured and couldn’t use your video card or something, but that happened just as often with chrome back then). Google actively breaks firefox compatibilit

The main “problem” with contextualized advertising is that the people producing the content get a larger share of the ad spend. Targeted ads concentrate control over the market into a few players, which can do things like acquire competitor

I’m getting about 2 hours with current macos on an arm macbook pro. I used to get 4-5 last year. This is out of the box. With obvious fixes like ripping busted background services out, it gets more than a day. There’s no way normal user

It’s quite possible that the pollution controls on some of those engines wig out and turn the truck into a coal roller. Even with 10-100x fuel efficiency improvements, it could increase particulates, etc due to a bad fuel mix. The real que

I’ve definitely seen agents add null checks to a computed value in a function, but then not change the return type to be non-null. Later, it adds a null checks at each call site, each with a different error message and/or behavior, b

There are also higher power AMD devices that work extremely well. If you’re willing to go up to 60W TDP and $500-1000, then they’re good enough to run recent steam games under linux at 1080p and LLM inference (if you spring for > ~32GB o

Be sure not to pay for switch online. They bury a bunch of social media / data sharing opt-ins about halfway through the game, where parents will not discover them. (Look for Luigi to see if your kid opted in.)

I don’t use Matrix, but if it’s E2EE, then how is it possible in the current design for an unverified device to even exist? It has the keys, or it doesn’t, right?

For endpoints that cannot be cached, do customers still have to wait for serverless containers to cold start? I can’t tell from reading through the docs. There’s a reference to delegating requests to regular AWS services, so I assume not, b

The config file subsystem was where the bug lived, not the code with the unwrap, so this sort of change is a special case of “make the unwrap never fail and then fix the API so it is not needed”.

Given that the bug was elsewhere in the system (the config file parser spuriously failed), it’s hard to justify much of what you suggested. Panics should be logged, and probably grouped by stack trace for things like prometheus (outside of

I think the idea is to ship the sqlite database around. It’s not a terrible idea, in that you can test the exact database engine binary in CI, and it’s (by definition) not a single point of failure.

I think the term you are looking for is “blood libel”, which I haven’t heard until recently. From context, it means “to speak the truth and present irrefutable evidence to back it up”. I guess that’s a crime?
