What do you think of Play? I just started looking into it and it seems pretty painless for basic stuff.

Can you speak more specifically regarding the ecosystem being behind? I'm a recent addition to the Scala development world and love it. That being said I'm eager to listen to any opposing viewpoints.

when the OS is just some library functions statically compiled in and the entire binary is a few megabytes that you can load directly into memory, why not?

It's a niche language that offers almost no reason to choose it over the most popular programming language in the world. As a niche language with a small community, the default opinion should be that someone is unlikely to want to work

Is it really a requirement? I would think callbacks and a preprocessor are sufficient.

Love this. The mess of using Java standard library for filesystem IO always left a bad taste in my mouth. This looks amazing for the filesystem stuff alone.

Everything I've ever heard on that front is that Erlang should be considered a control layer which has any CPU-bound tasks run in C. Actors/message passing is a good synchronization primitive but there is apparently a whole host o

yeah, I remember hearing that. I wouldn't necessarily consider that a sleight against Demonware though, considering that it's just a really hard problem to solve. Also I'm sure Activision pushed hard for it as it meant much r

Fair enough. I've dug into the haskell-as-scala stuff and found it academically interesting but somewhat divorced from reality with respect to how immediately useful it would be to most projects.

I loved his videos, personally. I had some familiarity with basic category theory and functional programming, but Bartosz does a really good job of explaining everything without prior math knowledge. Compared to all the introductory books p

I'm guessing some kind of event system out of band that the IDE can hook into. Using the OS for that is probably too low level to provide the experience people expect. https://neovim.io/doc/user/msgpack_rpc.ht

Interesting question as I'm guessing the ratios of instructions would probably be different owing at the very least to the vast difference in CPU power to IO that has grown over time.

I mean when people say Nulls are bad I don't think they necessarily mean they are categorically bad, only that allowing every single object in a system to have a null value without any supporting language features requires a lot of dis

what are your opinions on http://www.clash-lang.org/ ? It's different than what you describe because the language is explicitly aware of the fact its running on an FPGA. However, it's seemingly pretty declarative

I'm not sure that's sufficient reason to say that config files are preferable to environment variables. Presumably the config file would be kept separately from the project code, so it doesn't reduce deployment complexity. Fu
