With the current WiFi connected Miele laundry machines you can use the app to pause and add more laundry.

I would find it useful to check whether the dishwasher is currently running. At least BSH has models without any indication outside where the dishwasher is fully hidden behind a frame.

Find a coding job where everyone must come to the office. Maybe not easy these days but it’s worth it. I personally found this to be good for my mental health because I need the social interaction and discussions in person.

What problems did you have running Docker-compose with podman? I am running both on a server without any problem. Fedora-like distros have a package podman-docker that make docker-compose work without workarounds.

There is still the metadata the operating system stores with the file, even when the file is 1:1 identical. When you use Apple AirDrop to send a file to a friend the OS remembers who sent the file to your friend. Now if the police ever look

iPhone has *DAV it because iCloud uses it for Calendar and Contacts as well. Android has only EAS because most companies use MS Exchange. There is no need to support CalDAV for the Android develops.

Good question. It seems there is far more to learn for each different cloud provider than buy a vps and i. e. just learn how to install postgresql on Linux and run your application.

Interesting that the project intends to stop spamming services. In my experience it’s the other way round. If you give your correct email address you will receive sales promotion forever.

Had a similar thought when reading the headline. It’s like saying drinking water causes MS.

Good point. The software in this space should be open source. This is the only way you can trust it.

What is needed to repair this printer when they dry out? Every ink printer I had dried out some day. Is this a solved problem nowadays?

Would be interesting to see how much battery life there is on Windows. For ThinkPads it’s always much better on Windows than on Linux.

I always wondered why there isn’t a config option in MTAs that tries to route an email over different other MTA‘s submission port and tries until delivered. I mean a automated setup not static rules you mention. This would make self hosted

Agreed. If it was a compromised extension it would steal all the passwords when you unlock and upload it somewhere like pastebin.

Try at companies developing military devices. You can’t do this from home (I hope).

Unofficial server so you probably should avoid the web application (or build it yourself from official sources). In theory it could contain malicious code that leaks your password.

net=host is also bad for security. It's not recommended to do this, there was at least one severe security bug in containerd.

This is the feature that docker-compose lacks but is needed the most. There should be something like traefik-compose or caddy-compose with simple YAML config. I forget how the traefik labels work all the time.

+1 for trying to avoid celery. Too much complexity for simple asynchronous tasks. You should use it however if you are instagram (I think they use a customized Django and Celery).

Is Docker counting as a separate operating system? Doesn’t it use the same Linux kernel as WSL? Or do you mean Windows Containers in Docker?

Looking at the screenshot of jGRASP I can see it looks similar to IntelliJ. The icons are identical. I assume it’s based on IntelliJ. What’s the point of the article? Yes Eclipse is too complicated but I think IntelliJ is good for starting.

You probably mean the NodeJS version. I agree. It’s not just starting a Docker container. There are more steps involved. And there is no authentication.

When you use Docker you probably don’t configure your websites using Nix so there is no deterministic build happening here? In Ansible it’s just a few lines of code to start a Docker container. I’m not sure how Nix really helps here.
