I'll get downvoted to shit for this but the data for Japan's birth rate over time shows the decline setting in precisely when women were given freedom there. The cause/effect couldn't be more obvious, I feel like we'

Whenever such threads or articles pop up on here, I rarely ever see good discussion into the details around why the GFC even happened (much of what I will say is inspired by Jeff Snider and his excellent Eurodollar University project). I am

Plex just works on LG TVs (i.e. has a native app), Jellyfin doesn't have a native app. Plex is also "good enough" for most purposes and actually relatively painless to set up. It gets shit on a lot here but I'm grateful

Never thought I would see Al-Hallaj mentioned on HN. Even for a Sufi, he's very... off the beaten path.

UK-based software engineer here, proactively looking for work in the US. Is the simplest way to achieve this to contact US-based recruitment agencies and look for companies who are willing to sponsor a work visa? Is there a better way to go

It's not about "hope", it's about what is possible/will happen, in this case I don't think there is the room for governments to manoeuver anymore, i.e. they can't bail out the banks without creating 10-50x

Glad I'm not the only one mentioning Snider/Eurodollar University and that people are noticing his work. Everyone "noticing" the Eurodollar market may bring about the biggest shift in modern economics.

No mention of the Eurodollar system, probably best to ignore this. Look up Jeff Snider/Eurodollar University, he's probably the most well-researched guy on the subject. https://twitter.com/jeffsnider_aip

I'll do one better, just don't marry. Pre-nups are routinely thrown out by divorce courts. Unless the guy is extremely poor and marrying a high net-worth woman, there is just no point in marrying, you gain absolutely nothing (exce

As others have pointed out, it seems sketchy as hell, the desperate last-minute plea for a considerable sum of cash, the weird reasoning about data gotten through a web scraper being somehow subject to fees, and especially in how they want

I genuinely don't get how people are so surprised at what seems to me like yet another DeFi exit scam. What's different about this one other than the scale?

The incentives for the government to print money have already been mentioned more than once in this thread.

Precisely. I think it was Warren Buffett who said "show me the incentives and I'll tell you the outcome" or something to that effect. Governments are incentivized to seize as much power as money creation allows them. The only

You say that like having fixed-supply money is a trivial factor, when it's actually the central problem with fiat currency and the reason we even need crypto. Giving governments the ability to pass laws to allow an arbitrary amount of
