Not sure if better. But the biggest change in my case was not all the changes suggested by powertop, but probably kernel changes.went from 8-9w idle, to 5-6w. Over the course of 2 years wit a Lenovo t480s. I think that 5-6w is slightly bett

amen! really, do people even use git bisect? If you do, you go through some rite of passage and I've seen people including myself make better (not perfect) commits. It remains a black art to gauge what the perfect amount of work in a c

Priceless to mention Alpine because of its use of libmusl and BusyBox. BusyBox follows the same model as systemd of one binary and a gazillion uses. It even takes it further.

hehe these are quite good; some of them are the type of questions that if the answerer takes too long to come up with an answer, you know it's complete bullocks.

> What is “not ok” is the fact that switching to a GPL based license forces projects depending on the code like CrateDB to use a fork since it kills the business model. This is the most important statement, yet they don't explain wh

how is that clearly? What if your UI over time provides the mechanisms which are isomorphic to the functionality provided by ES? This will be a nightmare if ever tried in court.

what layers would they have to show? All of them up to bare metal? This is madness, should you be able to show your UEFI firmware? Should the server's out-of-band-mangement firmware be available as well? The license is plain vague.

Whenever people use Go in an analogy and depict it as simple, I'm out. Easy, yes; simple, no.

I never quite got what made python 2 -> 3 so much more complicated than say php 5 to 7. I heard nobody complain the time I was still active in the PHP world (lucky me right?). Yet the Python2 code just kept lingering everywhere.

You make it sound as if devops is the initiator of the complexity problems. This might well be in your case. My experience is the other way around. I'm forced to think about stuff like Kubernetes because the devs are popping "micr

Employee in the same space you are referring to, though bare-metal. The wreckage owners can make by thinking of the short-term gains is baffling. We are so behind the curve that we'll never make up for it.
